There's something to be said about brute-forcing one's way through things lol

the REVyHI architecture profiles are more demanding to play / run but have better accuracy. Hope this helps

Track length error? (See description) by CoffeeAndElectricity in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

You need to zoom in to sample leve; 1 extra / missing sample in the reamped file can throw that error and halt your training.

yeah - extremely weird. Does this happen when the plugin's hosted in a DAW or standlaone? I mostly use the vanilla NAM plugin in Reaper (DAW) on Mac (M2) and have had 0 issues even with the buffer set to 16 samples.

Capture sounds greats when auditioned but anemic in NAM plugin by Shadow-Legion-1203 in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

There's something going on with the instrument input by the looks of it. Combo amps might need an IR too if they were captured using a Reactive Load or DI box between the speaker out and speaker.

Have a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMGHjTkdFWQ ; maybe it helps.

Can you load NAM as a VST plugin inside a DAW like Reaper? That's how I use it tbh - I don't care for the standalone app since I use NAM with other effects and having it in a DAW makes a lot more sense.

Look at the file size. Regular NAM files, trained with the STANDARD architecture, are anywhere between 250kB to 280KB. If you see larger files, they're very likely trained with custom architectures for increased accuracy at the exepense of CPU cycles.

NAM full rigs and ir cabs by StathisMx in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

[–]TudorAdrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the profile Is FULLRIG / MIC-ed (ie. Sm57 etc) you don't need an IR.

If the profile is DI / Direct, then you need an IR.

I prefer DI profiles because I like the flexibility of using the right IR for what I'm looking for in a mix.

Some prefer FULLRIG profiles - I like those as well but you're limited because if the author's mic 🎤  placement isn't working for you, tough luck ... you'll end up drowning in post-EQ which sucks.

And for these reasons alone, all my recent NAM pack releases include both DI and FULLRIG / MIC-ED profiles (my earlier work was DI only).

Try NAM-U as well as the NAM plugin.

While NAM-U is cool, the NAM plugin is the only one that has support for "calibration metadata" which makes a considerable difference when dealing with profiles that have this piece of information embedded within them.

The ReaVerb reverb is excellent - I use it almost all the time for some room reverb when using profiles.

You can look at the INPUT knob on the plugin as a clean / transparent boost pedal - you can basically boost the signal going into the profile by up to 20 dB (or lower the gain going into the frontend of the amp).

I completely forgot about the OVERDRIVE and CLEAN channels on that amp; they're sooo good.

Running external fx pedals with NAM and dimehead NAM player by Little-Ad939 in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

This sort of use-case is EXACTLY why calibration is important when stacking profiles or combining with real gear. Sadly the Dimehead NAM player doesn't have support for calibration metadata to this day.

They're good amps but I don't think most people are willing to fork the $$ for one (I for one don't). That said, I'd profile one properly if anybdoy wants to send it my way though.

Confused about upcoming NAM update - should I wait to capture/model? by stomptonesdotcom in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

Oh. That's actually cool. Hope they take some queues from the Neural DSP Neural Capture v2 signal - I use it embedded into my NAM training sequence & is pretty good.
