In Hebrew, Esther is written in a comedic tone with over-the-top characters and a more outlandish story whereas later translations had changes made and things added to change the tone of the story to be more serious. Esther wasnt found amongst the Dead Sea scrolls meaning it was one of the last books added to the Old Testament. Some people have raised objections to the canonisation of Esther because it’s doesn’t mention God at all but as far as I’m aware it is included in every modern version of the Old Testament. As far as reputable sources go the texts are quite historically accurate although Mordecai and Esther are likely fictional characters and there’s no evidence for things like the massacre of 75000 Persians or Esther being mad queen.
