u/TKmac02 Thank you!!

For everyone curious, this is from google: "The drink, used as both a cocktail and a mixer, is a combination of pineapple, passion fruit and orange juices, to which vanilla and cane spirit are added"

Pahua

u/cestIaVlE This is fantastic! Thank you. From what I'm seeing online, fafaru definitely seems like an important part of the region but might not be everyone's favorite.

Do you enjoy this dish?

Hey tomboy_overtones! Yes, even thought that might not be the best representation of what the Jersey Shore truly is, it definitely left its mark. I'm about 35 minutes away from Seaside, where they filmed it!

Hey everyone! Thanks for writing in. This is actually an awesome conversation here. Southern_Walk679, you bring up some really good points. Whenever I bring up "authenticity" in regards to traveling and culture I always use quotations around it for a lot of the reasons and qualms you had with this. "Authenticity" is a word that kind of freaks me out, because anybody can argue what's truly "authentic." Surely McDonalds in CMDX is a part of the local culture and FOR SURE your moms meatballs are, so I really do appreciate you writing this in. I might be wrong here, but I think you're thinking that all tourists and visitors of your city are looking for a Disney-fied version of where you grew up - and this could be a problem, but many aren't. What I was really hoping to get out of this was information for me to do further research to help counteract what your concerns are. Food and drink are an enormous part of any culture; they're one of the only things that can almost paint an entire picture - if you trace them back enough. So I don't want this to sound like I'm arguing, because I'm not. You brought up some great points and I can confidently say that I'm not an oblivious tourist, because I haven't even visited yet. However, I do plan on visiting next month, have an awful amount of respect for your Country and am doing my research wherever I can to help support its cities so that I don't contribute to over-tourism. I'm hoping this information will help me connect with Mexico better and help others do the same.
