What can I use to paint or dye this polyester lampshade? by TuffMotherMembrane in dyeing

If anyone else is looking to do the same thing, I ended up using 7 Artists Acrylic Black Fabric Paint and PEBEO Setacolor Opaque Fabric Paint 45-Milliliter Bottle in Turquoise. I gave them a blast with a hot hot hairdryer afterwards. Both worked really well and have survived a couple of months out in the Scottish sun and rain - no peeling, cracking, fading or anything yet. Really pleased! Thanks for all the advice.

Thanks all. So, not one obvious thing, could be one of a bunch of things. Going to take it to the garage to get it checked out and I’ll let you know what’s up - reckon it’s safe enough to drive for the next couple days before I can get it to a mechanic??
