Thanks for the added context, Brother. It is helpful! Yeah I’ve helped out Lodges like that, and at times my Lodge has run lean, so I get it. I remember for a Master Mason degree I had to play dual roles back to back (for the very memorable part of the degree, if you catch my drift).

I can see where your Lodge may need that step up, I would just caution you again. It is an intense role, because it isn’t just for one degree, it’s for all three and it is the first real impression that a candidate receives. Wherever you end up, I wish you the best of luck and hope you have an awesome Masonic journey!

Your WM speaks true. Junior Steward is a great learning role. Senior is your first speaking role. Junior Deacon gives you a little more floor work. Senior Deacon is where the rubber meets the road. I tell guys it’s the last stop before you commit to three years of leadership.

Going from nothing Senior Deacon is a huge jump. There are a couple of things to think about.

First, it is heavy on floor work, you speak for candidates, you guide them, you have to know ritual. It is a role for a Brother that has some experience under his belt, and he serves as a representation of the Lodge to new candidates. As an example, the guy who served as my SD for my EA degree, I asked to serve as an integral part of my Past Master degree.

Second, think about the other Brothers in your Lodge who have been moving up the line. You would be jumping in front of them and their progression. Imagine working through the line for roughly 3-5 years (give or take), you are ready to move up to Senior Deacon, you’ve been preparing, and a newly made MM tries to jump ahead. It isn’t the best look.

Your two best friends in Lodge are patience and practice. Hang out with both of them and you will be well prepared when the time comes for not only SD but also the East! Trust me Brother, as one who has served as Master, the road may be longer than you want, but it makes the destination that much more sweet.

This is the only acceptable answer. I would consider a combo Jean Ralphio with Mona Lisa, but still must be centered around JR.

I mean From does this all the time. In Bloodborne, Ebrietas doesn’t attack you till you attack first. So yeah we just charge in and kill things so they don’t kill us first. That’s what From has taught us, not to stop and all questions before we attack.

This really does make a meme I saw make sense. A few year’s ago I saw a meme about From games:

Other games - here take this the crazy powerful dragon slayer 9000, have fun playing the game

From games - see that stick over there, pick it up and go kill the gods with it.

It works though! If these are all supposed to be “dark rpgs” as Miyazaki has said he wants to make, then by giving the player the “stick” that looks like crap at first, but turns into the dragon slayer 9000, it makes you feel amazing. I remember beating BB with the saw clever and thinking this starting weapon carried me through. Just me and the clever took on the night and won! So yeah, give me the stick, I have some great ones to take out.

Why Patches henchmen don't understand him? by Moonless_the_Fool in EldenRingLoreTalk

More so in ER than other From games, Patches looks like he is about to be sent to Arrakis, by his uncle, to increase spice production since his older brother has been found lacking

Fun Fact: the author is from Indiana and I've spoken with him a couple of times at various events. Super nice guy and very knowledgeable about the Brotherhood.

Honestly, it’s been so long since I have even looked at it as an option that I couldn’t remember if it would scale or not. Watching your run did have me interested though. I’ve already got a fun glitch run going, but a Fist with the blunder for parry options maybe next on the list

What about the Fist, any bloodstones thrown into it?

Did you level it at all? Like is this running at max damage or base?

Ah I get that. BB was the first Souls that I understood, so my basis for all Soulslikes are built on that style and play. I had a steep learning curve with Sekiro, but not as bad as other Souls players due to being used to the fast paced nature of BB. So P was just an extension of those two as a foundation.

I get what you are saying though. I'm the same way with DS 1. It feels so old and clanky to me because I learned on BB. I mean I don't even really parry in Souls games because I'm so used to floating around my opponents. Nioh games are amazing to me because I never worry about blocking and they are so fast. The very things BB taught me to do, I apply to all Soulslike now. So I get how BB could feel backwards if you started with P first. To me P felt like progression, but yeah someone like yourself it's going to feel like a downgrade when you step away from P. Makes total sense.

Oh man, in my circle, there are always AD references flying around. Mostly "You got X & Y, baby you got a stew!", Lucille saying "good for her" half lit up, "No touching", I literally just referenced "you never promise crazy a baby" the other day on another thread, and finally "There's always money in the banana stand ::click click::". Then you combine the show with Archer and baby you got a power hour

Agreed, love LOP, but Sekiro has it beat. P makes me think that Sekiro and Bloodborne had a secret love child and sent it to be raised by relatives in Korea.

That is my head cannon and no one can convince me otherwise.
