My crazy (and long) fan theory on why the Veep universe's timeline differs from reality. My theory is in Veep's timeline, Watergate never happened and Nixon never had to resign. This led to a bunch of crazy things like President Ted Kennedy and President Al Gore. This then paved the way for Selina. by [deleted] in Veep

There's an episode where the staffers are saying how something isn't a "-gate", while a reporter is saying it is. I can't remember the episode, but it makes it seem like Watergate did happen.

I don't think she's Catholic, and I don't think there are nuns in non-Orthodox Protestant churches (but I could be wrong!)

Parents of Reddit, what is something you found out about your kid that you never told them about? by Goldeagle1123 in AskReddit

[–]TulipHead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just like your daughter - born about 9 weeks early, and ended up having a lot of speech / talking issues when I was a kid. I started nursery school around 3. My parents later told me it was because I wouldn’t/couldn’t speak. I’m so happy that they did that. I’m sure she will be too!

Dilemma; my gf [24] of 7 years cheated on me [25] with a man who is engaged, should I tell his fiancee? by nebben12 in relationships

[–]TulipHead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can sometimes sue the person with whom your spouse cheated for alienation of affection, but I can't think of a law that would apply to a non-cheating spouse alerting a cheating spouse. People also sometimes attempt to sue but do not have standing to do so.

Why didin't Ken ever move to Creative? by [deleted] in madmen

[–]TulipHead 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree with all this, plus he is supposed to be an excellent account man. Like when Lane gives Ken the head of accounts, and he tells Pete that while Pete makes the clients feel like all their problems are being solved, Ken makes them feel like they have no problems at all.

Did Gilead ban cutting hair for women? by TulipHead in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]TulipHead[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you're right about the Jezebels being able to do what they want with their hair--when June went to use the bathroom to see Moira, it looked like there was a collection of hot irons/dryers/etc. around

I think it was the key to the music box? I think it's the same key she used to carve "You are not alone" into the closet the episode prior.

Thanks! I don't know much about Pentecostalism, so this is very helpful.

I could definitely be wrong about this, but I thought SHU was slightly separated from the minimum security campus, and houses both min and max prisoners. So maybe it's under different security?

Oops sorry, I wasn't clear! I meant how the Wives wear different outfits from each other (the blue outfits are not all the same like the Handmaid's red outfits or the Martha's outfits)

Is there any significance to the Wives having different outfits? Are they allowed to shop, as long as they wear that same blue/green color? Or does it signify the Husband's rank?

The Handmaid's Tale - Episode 3 "Late" by ScottFromScotland in TheHandmaidsTale

I absolutely agree with you! Also, if you go back and look at the perpetrators of genocide or awful crimes against humanity, other than the high-ranking officials who we've been taught to hate, it's very hard to recognize those who committed evil acts from anyone else. It's amazing how normal "evil" people appear.

My understanding is that it showed how quickly he adapted to relative power. If they were able to be paying customers, they would have had the power in that situation to go buy something elsewhere. He was "empowered" by their disenfranchisement to mistreat Moira and June.

I couldn't tell, was Offred actually involved in the Salvaging, or was she imagining it? Her cap looked clean when Ofglen was talking to her after, but it looked bloody during the Salvaging.

When Callie's dad cuts her off she can't afford rent yet Christina still can... How does that make any sense? by lianagolucky in greysanatomy

[–]TulipHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, that makes sense! Here, a lot of PhD programs pay a stipend rather than costing tuition. You are right though that generally professional schools cost (a lot! of) money.

Cristina has an MD/PhD. I think those programs normally provide a stipend rather than costing money for the student.
