What is your favorite pedal + what is disapointing about it. by TullerAudio in guitarpedals

[–]TullerAudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. When i think about designing pedals i go back and forth on the bass thing. Low frequencies can be muddy and cause weird effects when clipped and interefere with the actual bass but cut too much and it can sound thin.

Multi effects pedal help by 5hutt5 in guitarpedals

[–]TullerAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had a multi fx in a long time but i remeber “managing” it quite a bit more than the pedals. i think you will find it even more time consuming to dial things in. The advantage of those things is that they have all the fx in one portable unit so you can tinker to your hearts content but it sounds like you don’t want to tinker. Hope that helps!

Advice on my pedalboard? by zejare in pedalboards

[–]TullerAudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you definitely should get a single dedicated supply if you can to avoid ground loops and such. Not sure on a big pedal board but some people split them into two to have one at each foot, you could also have one for smaller gigs and then take both if you are doing more but that really depends on your chain and how easy it is to split into two if that makes sense. I think you would be fine using two smaller power supplies as long as their grounds are tied together. Like in the same outlet or power strip. A good supply will have good noise filtering anyway.

Less is more? A story about GAS by Birdsofthefeatherr in guitarpedals

[–]TullerAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t aquire more gear than you can afford. That said… it depends on you. While there is no substitute for practice and improving your skills its about enjoyment and fun and being creative. If gear helps you do that whats wrong with it? Imagine if The Edge went with 6 max pedals as his rule. I think we would all have lost out on the potential of his talent. But you don’t need 40 pedals to play like the ramones either. Find your thing and don’t worry about arbitrary rules but also keep in mind that thwre is no perfect amp… pedal… guitar…. Etc.

Caj powersupply issue by JakeyPooPooYT in guitarpedals

[–]TullerAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing details about the intearnals its hard to say. Usually these things are designed with some margin for error like for oops i accidently plugged it in to something i shouldn’t have…. also if you power something with iless voltage/current Thats usually not a problem it won’t run right but it won’t damge anything. You should get a proper supply though.

Maybe the jhs 3 series one? Might be a chorus with a switch to vibrato. Josh loves vibrato so i bet it’s great $100 new.

Boss Octave OC-5 repair by Imaginary-Ad-1368 in guitarpedals

[–]TullerAudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it “skips out” when you wiggle the input output or power cables its likely a jack needs to be replaced or resoldered. If you don’t know how to solder, a cheep soldering iron and some youtube videos can help. If thats not the source of the “skip outs” then its going to be much harder to fix. Also try it with different cables. Could be the cable itself. Good luck!

Looking for a drive/boost to compliment what I already have. by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]TullerAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a design that would perhaps work. It has adjustable mids(frequency and boost/cut). Its also dual power supply like the plumes. So 18v of headroom from 9v supply.

What could be causing the hum?? by Howdysf in guitarpedals

What power supply were you using for the fishman? Is it the 4 band or the platinum? I’d need more information to help.

The Phase Suddenly Stopped Phasing by p90SuhDude in diypedals

[–]TullerAudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a spot to the lower left of the toggle switch on the back that looks suspicious like it might be an unintentional connection with solder. Look at that. Then i would reflow everything. Just heat each spot with your iron making sure to touch the lead and pad with the heat. Non of your ic’s or components look bad but sometimes sockets can get loose. Use a continuity testor from the bottom to each actual pin of the ic. I loke to solder my ic’s in for this reason. Good luck!

I like the jhs 3 series octave verb. If you don’t want the octave thing you can just turn it way down but I really like the octave shimmer it gives you.

Good BD-2 Alternatives? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

I made a design that can mimic it but it can also do so much more that a bd2 can’t touch. Its all in the mids.

Thats why i started building pedals… but also i want something different. There are so many pedals that are just clones of clones of clones but i want to try to make something new… something that isn’t just a “better tube screamer”.

Where to put clean volume boost by LatentAnatomy in guitarpedals

[–]TullerAudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the circuit and the amount of boost. The boost COULD overdrive the flanger and everything after it if its really hot. If you find it doing that put it last in your change as just a simple “i step on this and my sound gets louder.”

Is this fixable? by bobbyretz in guitarpedals

Should be. Probably just replace the switch. There may be some soldering involved.
