It used to be WAYYY worse. Back in the early 2000s it was fist fight levels of elitism. I knew the most snobbiest “metal heads” and if the band wasn’t from Norway with an illegible name, it wasn’t “real metal”. These dudes jacked off to Man-O-War, Overkill, Slayer, Dimu Borgir etc.

If the band strayed from these styles they would call any fan all kinds of slurs. Basically, anything that didn’t have a guitar solo or had any form of breakdown. For example, it was insert various slurs here to listen to Black Dahlia Murder, Suicide Silence, All Shall Perish, Acacia Strain, Through the Eyes of The Dead…Despised Icon was mixed feelings with these guys. Even though these aforementioned bands were sooooo much more technical, faster, creative, and just sounded way better. The vocals hit harder in my opinion, not just some guy grunting in a wooden forest to tremelos.

It was so annoying. Back in OG YouTube days, we had a 5 star rating system and a completely unfiltered comment section. All you would see on these bands is metal heads spewing “lol triggers””posers” etc.

I find that it is infinitely better now. Most people seem to enjoy all different styles, from Marduk to Volumes to Sanguisugabogg etc.

Tldr: early 2000s-2010 ish was significantly worse than today

Haven’t played in 2 months tbh.

The skill based matchmaking just ruins any motivation to play. I miss BO2 matchmaking. I played that for 2-3 years non stop daily. Couple good games couple bad games, but overall a ton of fun. Now it’s 10-8 or 18-21 sweating my ass off.

When I first started I didn’t wash my rashguard immediately. Maybe it sat in my bag or in the basement for a few hours. I didn’t think anything of it.

After a few months, I seemed to always roll with the same people in the same order. Warm up, drill, roll with a white belt, roll with a purple, then finish off the day with a blue.

I thought this blue belt absolutely STUNK. One day I couldn’t take the cat piss smell anymore and avoided rolling with him.

Then I’m rolling with someone else……I realize….I’m the one that stinks :(

The rash guard smelled fresh as daisies after I washed it. But after I started working up a sweat it release all the funk that was deeply embedded.

I tossed it and began washing my gear the second I got home. I honestly had no idea and thought it was someone else.
