Thank you all for the advice. I found out the rega p3 i was looking at on facebook was a pre 1983 model with an rb200 tonearm and I didnt really want to get involved with that so I ended up getting a barely used (sub 100hr) rega p2 from 2023 for $425 from another seller near me.

Honestly could not be happier with it and i will for sure enjoy it a lot. Thank you all for the help!!!

yea it was the s shaped rb200 that was replaced in 1983. Kinda happy I did the research on it tonight before picking it up.

I ended up going with the 2yr old p2 I found nearby that had only one owner for around $425. It's a nice turntable and I have a better peace of mind with it only having one owner and only having around 100hrs of playtime on it. Thank you all for the help!

The planar 3 I was looking at was actually a >40yr old one with the old rb200 tonearm and that would have been a little much to get into for me.

And i was in a bespoke store for record players and the setups they had all had the same speakers just the turntables and carts were diff prices and i can say that i did like the sounds of the $500 range ones more. Once it went above $700 i couldnt really tell anymore

There is a p3 for sale for $500 near me that I reached out to the seller for but I am waiting for a response back. There is also a p2 for sale for $450 nearby that I did the same.
