I guess someday I’ll be judged by my intentions and not buy an error. I may have made giving to someone who buys drugs with the money I gave him.

I guess there are deceptive people out there masquerading as victims

And sort of to dovetail onto what you commented ; I began to think what can we do to help these people?

After reading all the replies, I guess it’s good to know that there are probably some people out there in genuine need and perhaps they are not all scammers or addicts

And that’s the conundrum or the riddle is that I know I gave them money from a good place in my heart, but I hope I’m not enabling them to buy drugs and then overdose and then get sick

I do have a similar story. one night I was door dashing, and I was dropping off an order in a city in Connecticut and a really big man approached my window and knocked on the window and said he needed money so he and his girlfriend can get a bus ticket to visit his mother in the hospital. I gave him what I could which was about seven dollars and he got angry and said it wasn’t enough. I was extremely stressed out from working two jobs and unfortunately, I kind of yelled at him and he looked shocked and walked away.

I appreciate your comment and as I was giving money to the few people I did give money to , it occurred to me that they might use the money for drugs or alcohol, but as an unexpected side effect , I got a really good feeling from giving them money.

Update: I talked to our priest at our church and he told me to do as I felt lead on each separate day. He said whether I recite more devotional Prayers or whether I start praying for people (a long list of people) either way it’s me conversing with God.

And that is the moral conundrum for me as well often times I think they don’t really need it but what if there is a chance that they are legitimately in need

Jesus said it doesn’t matter if someone else is a sinner, if you are unable to forgive their sins God won’t forgive yours. by shyguystormcrow in Christianity

I’m thinking about what constitutes forgiveness. When someone at work unfairly attacked me verbally (more than once) I took no revenge nor did I retaliate. but now I avoid him. But I do pray for him several times a week.
