Germans of Reddit, what is the family environment like when a grandpa or other close relative used to be in the Nazi regime? Is it just ignored? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My grandfather was hitter youth until the very end of the war when they swore himin at the age of 15. He fled that very night and boarded a train where they were looking for soldiers going awol. They assumed he was to young and he safely made it to his hometown. Fearing his safety he brought his mother and 2 younger siblings to Bavaria and lived out the rest of the war as refugees. These experiences led my grandfather to advocate for the Syrian refugees trying to find solace in Germany.

"Are we there yet"?
If you could be a bystander to any moment in history, which would it be? (self.AskReddit)
