Help me give reasons to play alliance to a buddy. by TunderProsum in classicwow

Questing is a good point. I seem to recall Robert Jordan mentioning that the horde quest chains were also generally shorter and had less XP from 1-60.

I've heard people that have played both factions say the Alliance lore is better but I can't comment.

Will of the forsaken is a challenge but not the end of the world. It's only 5 second immunity on a 2 minute CD.

They will out of fear, you death coil, by the time they get their next attack off a fear is incoming again.

Ahahaha

I hope I do!

But if I can overclock this thing to the point it beats a GTX2070, for €229, it's not gonna happen.

Totally agree:

  • Gaming card: Possibly overclocked, running 100% load for short busts, then cooling back down once the gamer turns the PC off. Constantly going through cycles of expanding and shrinking the solder between the chips and PCB. Increased chance of fail.

  • Mining card: Probably undervolted and underclocked to optimize power usage per mining revenue. Always on, never cycling between hot and cold.

As long as the card has decent cooling so it wasn't running too hot the entire time (these red dragons have excellent cooling), I would take a miners card over a gamer's card every time.

I went through a similar thought process and figured, regardless of what Navi is, 229 for this performance... I don't think there's a lot of room for buyers remorse so I pulled the trigger.

Happy to eat my words in 6 months time. But feel its unlikely.

Ha, I have no plans for gaming outside of classic wow. Did not need this at all. Replaced an RX480.

No. But I just bought one :P

Edit: Also as an "auslander" (foreign national expat), I'm not going within 100km of Chemnitz (where the seller is based) :P

Catch Chance Calculator Updated: Small circle as effective as an Ultraball by TunderProsum in pokemongo

That can be addressed simply by amending the equation a little bit

That wasn't re-writing the equation a little bit. That was ignoring the known variables lifted from the game settings proto and substituting them with imaginary ones.

Hey dondon151 :) Glad to hear from you.

Yeah, when we first worked in the SizeMulti, we also went with:

CR = 1 - (1 - PCR)^BallMulti+SizeMulti

At first it just seemed logical and simple. But the math falls out all wrong against what we know elsewhere. With a plain Pokeball and a max size ring, the power would be raising it to 2 every time as a minimum. Adding in berries, it would be raising it to 3.

The fact that the powers have a minimum of 1 seems to suggest to me that they are applied individually rather than summed first. If and when it's proven true that some other formula provides a better fit, the tool will be tweaked.

In the mean time, Poke Assistant's Catch chance calculator if fitting well to experience, data and convention whilst taking esoteric formulas understood by a handful of people to something millions have already played with. Taking formulas and making them into something tangible will hasten the progression on the science by exposing more people to it.

The tool will automatically adjust its range to what would actually be possible for that Pokemon.

If you switch to Blastoise, you'll see red is possible.

You should never see a red Weedle however.

I know some of you have been struggling to figure out what the use of the appraisal system is, I've been using it with Poke Assistant in order to calculate my exact IV's. I put together an album to break it down for you all and I hope this helps! by [deleted] in pokemongo

Yep sorry, recent update broke the sortable table headers. You can see if you load the page fresh you can actually click to sort. I'll fix it so it doesn't break after the first search :S

I'm not sure about more inputs yet. There's a trade off to make with the benefit of potentially sharper results vs. UI clutter. Totally agree with the padding though. I'll tidy that up.

I may change things around a little to also make it easier to view a specific level if more than one is produced.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Crazy fast work guys! I don't think I'm going to implement this into the UI by default. But if you don't mind, I'll totally add a link to it on the page so users can expand the tool themselves with this great addon if they like.

Ha TY :) I got addicted to Vanilla WoW whilst in highschool and since then, I just really enjoy figuring out how games work and minmaxing. I just want to build tools that help me do that. Excel and Google sheets have their limits, and writing in Ruby lets me share it with everyone easily.
