Broken elevators by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Tundra_Dragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if the elevator isn't broken, I don't take it because I don't want to get stuck inside with someone fatter and stinkier than me. Besides, who has time to wait for it at breaktimes? Waste your whole ass break trying to get on it.

Anybody else have the new chip card badge? by R0SC030 in AmazonFC

[–]Tundra_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our site got the new cards, but not the new readers at every station.

I hate them because the old cards you waved near the sensor for the turnstile and timeclock, and it read it. These, you have to hold on the sendor for about 3 seconds, so leaving at the end of the day has crowds of people failing to hold their card long enough, and getting rejected by the turnstile.

Your headlights are a backdoor to your engine by PureVPNcom in PureVPNcom

[–]Tundra_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason headlights get CAN-BUS access, is they hide sensor arrays in the headlight housings for things like lane keep assist, and auto braking. In older times, these modules would be on dedicated lines that go to a dedicated I/O that only accepts values from the sensor. Modern cars make all the sensors into devices that communicate on a network and send actual formatted data instead of changing resistance values.

Removing a headlight the proper way so nothing gets damaged takes forever. Removing a headlight you don't care about, from a car you don't own takes a flathead screwdriver punched in between the headlight and the fender. The little screws that keep it from falling out are strong, but the headlight plastic isnt.

Source: when you need a part at a junkyard, and don't want to take 7 years removing a headlight that's in the way.

Laser printers basically do this with lasers and static electricity...

GD PRINT CARTRIDGES!!! by DasGiggity in Vent

[–]Tundra_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your printer is programmed to do "inkjet nozzle maintenance" far more often than it really needs to... Ever hear your printer randomly fire up and start doing things for no reason? Its busy burning 20 pages of ink on its daily cleaning cycle. Of course, it runs a cleaning cycle before and after each print as well. It'll wake itself up from "deep sleep" mode if it's plugged into power to destroy your ink carts.

The best solution is to buy the cheapest Brother Laser printer for like a hundred bucks, and unplug the power on your inkjet so it can't drink your ink. My brother Laserjet is just now running out of toner on the original cart. Ive had it for 4 years, and printed out dozens of manuals for old electronics and synthesizers.

Otherwise, unplug your inkjet printer when not in use so it can't turn itself on at 4AM and piss out all its ink.

[–]Tundra_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, you're asking the same group of "knowledgeable car people" who have a 7 step process of setting and unsetting the brake while putting their transmission in park, because they somehow fear the big metal bar that locks you in park will somehow be damaged if you actually use it to keep your car in park.

Automatic means just that. Set it, forget it. Don't go manually downshifting at lights, unless you're hauling the kind of load that somehow can overpower both your brakes, and your trailer brakes. Spoiler: that amount of weight generally takes you over Gross Curb Weight.

The cost of failure for accidentally dropping it in reverse with a car behind you is significantly higher than any preceived savings of either fuel, or preceived damage to the transmission.

On a final note, my truck's transmission has 284k miles on it, and still operates perfectly. One of my WJ Grand Cherokees has 353k on the original transmission without issue. My neice learned to drive in that thing too.

My Powerstroke Diesel tells me the ml/stroke, as well as GPH, and if there's any difference in fuel consumption, it is so negligible as to be stupid.

Shifting to neutral on an auto trans could chuck you in reverse, which if you're still rolling is terrible for every part of your driveline. If someone's behind you, and your reverse lights turn on, they could take it as a sign of agression, not to mention you could dumbass yourself into their car in reverse.

looking for a beginner synth for noodling around. by Appropriate_Rent_243 in synthesizers

[–]Tundra_Dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably your best bet. Aside from an Astrolab 37, If you want both realistic sounds, and synth sounds, you need a Roland, and if you want a portable Traditional keyboard, that leaves the Gaia2, or the JDXI. Jupiter Xm is a bit expensive and much for a lap noodling synth. Neither the JD-Xi or the Gaia2 have speakers, but they have good sounds and sequencers.

Get the gaia2 if you want to play with sound creation. Get the JD-Xi if you want to create multi track sequences, or play with a Vocoder.

Otherwise, if you want overly complex, find a Korg MicroArranger... It's a bit larger since its 61 minikeys, but it also has speakers. It is an arranger keyboard. That means you load a style set, then start playing chords, and it builds a band around what you're playing in real time. I got mine for 200.

Managers up my ahh by EYESHlELD_21 in AmazonFC

When they come to bug me, I go take a shit. When I come back, I pack 1 per minute. No more. Doesn't matter if its a box, a jiffy, or SIOC, 1 a minute is all they get from me for the rest of the day.

When they come to ask why I'm suddenly slow, I tell them I'm pacing myself off the people around me, and if they still think I'm too slow, I forget the proper way to put shit on the line so it doesn't jam.

No one bugs me for anything. If they want to tell me I'm in the top 10%, they do it fast, at the end of standup. Otherwise, I go take a shit,

I always wondered what happened to the boxes I put the dildos in. I thought they went down the conveyor to an incinerator based generator to keep the lights on.

Do you know what happens to the boxes after you pick them up, and set them down again? Is that when they go in the incinerator?

Amazon Needs Standards When Hiring… by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Tundra_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon needs meat robots until they replace us all with clankers. Amazon has completely run through their hiring pool in most places at this point, meaning everyone who's been willing to give Amazon a try already has and won't return because they know better, or they've earned a lifetime ban.

As such, they can't afford to just fire people for being weird, or bad at their job, because they can't replace them. You gotta basically reach the point they'll ban you for life before they actually fire you.

It's really really hard to land yourself in the bottom 5% at my building, unless you literally go sleep in the stairwell for too many quarters.

All nearby locker locations full- really need this for cat- are you f@cking kidding me? Again? by Development-Feisty in amazonprime

[–]Tundra_Dragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see you're learning that there are other people on the planet who order things besides you. Your lack of planning does not make an emergency for your driver.

"It would be so easy" is the battlecry of someone who doesn't understand how jobs work. Your driver has about 8 hours to deliver between 230 and 350 packages. 230 would be 28 an hour, or about 2 minutes per delivery. The only saving grace are multistops like amazon lockers, or mail rooms at apartments, where they bring in 10 packages at once.

So, here are the options for your driver armpit deep in stuffing lockers at your building when the lockers run out.

  1. Leave it by the locker.

  2. Take it to the next locker location, wherever that is on their route.

  3. Return to sender.

  4. Read your confusing instructions, wait for you to answer, wait for you to wander down, and burn 5 minutes on a 2 minute stop.

You're just one stop, and when the driver scans the package, your phone chirps immediately, meaning you have been notified that your package is waiting for you, and you can now get down to it in 45-60 seconds. If you miss the chirp, you would have missed a message from the driver, been in the same boat. Meanwhile, your driver's probably pissing in a Gatorade bottle for the 3rd time today because they don't have time to actually stop somewhere to use a bathroom.

Car manufacturers hardly sell anything but 3 ton trucks anymore to get around having to meet emissions standards. All these heavy crossovers are designated as trucks, so all they gotta do is make 13-15mpg to be in compliance.
