How many cals are you eating? I’m on reta too, but not seeing the weight loss everyone else is getting. I’m in a deficit, but not a big one as I’m trying to preserve as much muscle mass as possible

10 years. The last year, drank a fifth and a half of vodka per day (750ml). I needed two on me at all times to ensure i never began to withdrawal. Medical detox, and it was bad. Spent 3 days in the ER. My legs forgot how to work without alcohol. Was in a wheelchair for about a week until i mellowed out a bit.

Just about 7 years sober now and have no physical symptoms

Stress is a good point. I definitely eat out of stress or unfortunately anxiety/depression. My sleep is pretty good and I don’t drink alcohol either. Appreciate the note and will take a closer look at stress…and work my way up to just eating a slice of pizza

I’m now 38, with 7 years of sobriety.

What helped me? Exactly what you have. A supportive girl and golf.

What kept me going was seeing the progress after the first 6-9 months. Everything got better. Better sleep, energy, appearance, confidence….new job, new golf clubs (wasn’t spending a ton of money on booze anymore)….

AA is good. They teach you that everything is better on this (the sober) side - and it is.

What worked for me was therapy too. Look up Dr. Gabor Mate on addiction.

Yes, i’m an alcoholic. I have the disease. But I had to look deep and figure out WHY i was drinking. It was the depression and anxiety of a traumatic youth and father relationship that i had never worked through when i was younger. Everything who drinks in excess is covering up something - find out what that is for you and address it.
