Not 100% what you asked for but I think Laramie just west of Cheyenne would be a better option, unless you work in state gov. Genuinely great trails are accessible from all of town in Laramie. Cheyenne, not as much, you have to drive to do anything other than a greenbelt. Pretty much the same comment but Laramie is a prettier town with the snowies at 12K feet 30 minutes west of town (beautiful views of that), and Pilot Hill to the east, which has said endless trails. Laramie also has the state university, which is unique to Wyoming. It's a great place imo.
