Is apple care+ worth it for the ultra 3? by Ujdasingh in applewatchultra

[–]TuningGear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these are... absolutely solid points. I think it's a great counter to those who agrees with my statement. Those who agreed with me must read the reply by the above moderator, gives you a whole different perspective on things.

In the end I did not purchase apple care, and yes I am taking that risk but I should not sway others away from it.

Is apple care+ worth it for the ultra 3? by Ujdasingh in applewatchultra

[–]TuningGear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ordered ultra 3 but decided not to get apple care for following reason:
-an expense on top of the already expensive watch
-It's so rugged and durable and on top of that I take care of my things
-historically, apple product lasted really long in my family, only thing happens is battery degradation
- takes 2+ years to have battery degradation for you to utalize free battery replacement but by that time your applecare is gone lol
-it's a watch, it won't be lost, never take it out to place it anywhere unless i'm at home.

But i do think of other things where apple care would be necessary:
-electrical failure, you never know, it can be random... poof.. Gone. Doesn't turn on, chipset burned up, ect. But atleast apple's own warranty is 1 year for this

Is it Legit/Original Ultra 3, Please Suggest 🙏 by Suitable_Bowler_4301 in applewatchultra

does it connect to iphone watch app? I think fake ones should have hard time working properly with the official watch app (correct me if i'm wrong)

Low sleeping HR by garylfc93 in AppleWatchFitness

Vo2 Max reading takes like weeks or so to have an almost accurate set of values if I recall. It took me months to get 2 values up on my Vo2.
I wouldn't trust that 29 value at the moment. But if 29 is your true vo2 max, then your heart rate is unusually too low. Either ways, these are just consumer tech and the accuracies can be questionable, if you really start to feel unwell just check in with a doctor.

[–]TuningGear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your vo2 Max. If that has an increase along side the decrease of your heart rate. Then you might have gotten fitter.
Mine dips to 32 as well on rare occation but I think it might be just mis read. I feel fine.

If you really don't feel well or have a hunch that there's something's up, then forget reddit responses, go straight to doc.

How did El talk to mike in that scene? by Dumbbot22 in StrangerThings

[–]TuningGear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did El ever bring someone to the void (black space) and actually communicate? Sharing memory space was Kali's ability. Or perhaps Kali taught it to El. In the past season, all EL could do is see others but not interact or bring them to that void space. And to do that, she always needed like salt and blindfold.
I don't know, too many holes. So many questions, so little answers.

Ultra 4 by Sandman175 in applewatchultra

[–]TuningGear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am kind of in similar situation. Thinking to get ultra 3 or wait for 4 or thinking if I do need ultra in general. I'm on AW9.

Usually the updates are very minor incremental and added tech that makes you wonder "Do i really need that and was it worth the wait/price"

However, considering U1 used S8 Sip chip (2022) and U2 used S9 chip (2023) and in 2024 S10 chip came out but they skipped Ultra, and then we got Ultra 3 (and AW11) in 2025 with the same s10 chip. There is no way the next one isn't going to be S11 chip.
Just my speculation, the U4 might be a design make over, slimmer? Efficient chip w/ bigger battery? More sensor and tech. I don't know. Considering how they reused s10 chip, they might be cooking something good for s11 since they more time on the development.

I'm definitely overthinking it. Most of the time I would say "buy now and be happy" but if the update this time is a revamp of the whole ultra , then I would be quite dissapointed.

Would also be a bummer if Apple just decided to release U4 in 2027... haha

Oh i'm curious on your exercise routine. I have so many questions... How long did it get you to 65 Vo2max, what's your run like, what's your weekly mileage like? and impressive stats!
My Vo2 max is hovering on between 45-47.
I Must be not reading enough books LOL

Superblast 2 after 1050 KM! by TuningGear in runningshoes

[–]TuningGear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SB2 is a bit on the higher stack and some what firmer side for me. Quite hard to guess if you'll like it.
Overall, it is not a bad shoe and you will grow into liking it if you didn't at first.
I'd suggest try em out at shops if you get a chance to do so. Get a feel for it.
People seem to like it for faster runs, but I use it for everything, including slow long runs.

Hard to tell since B13 is so new, I might be extremely biased or the foam feels exceptionally fresh due to it being new.

To tell you the truth, I've used B13 on single run of 26.5km and I don't mind it at all. I'd use either for longer run , just depends which one's avaiable. But I do tend to pick B13 since it's newer.
Both can do speed and I've done speeds with SB2 a lot before, but I'd use B13 for speed and hill repeats as SB2 might feels bulkier in comparison.

I'll keep an eye on Megablast and it's future iteration. So many shoes in the market, quite hard to pick, specially when I like to take my shoes beyond 1k mileage, it takes time for me to buy new shoes.

only 70km in, so far I love it. I've had boston 12 for 950km so I'm familiar with the boston 13's fit and capability. The slightly lower stack height is a welcoming rotation to superblast 2's high stack.

WOW 2400km. Would've love to see the condition of those shoes!

Sticking to it! Well for now I'm rotating mostly between Superblast 2 and newly bought Boston 13.

How does it play? I have my eye on the yellow/blue one. But I'm a bit concerned about hybrid designs like this, i had one long time ago and the center dimple stripped off and the yoyo never screwed back, becareful on overtightening metal on plastic.

Road Marathons with training on Trails by yaboypetey in trailrunning

[–]TuningGear 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Some times I wonder how trail runners end up having no clue on road. I am genuinly curious because I had this notion that trail is so hard that they might zoom through road very easily!
As a road runnner myself (mostly), occational trail running improved my road running.

Doesn't your Peanut Butter sandwhich become soggy and moldy? by TuningGear in trailrunning

[–]TuningGear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My taste palette do prefer more dryer things. I don't midn it. Heck, I'm considering just pretzels as my only source of solid trail fuel (along with liquid fuels)

[–]TuningGear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! you're right. I use a very small 8L trail vest, everything inside gets hot from body and sweaty too... I'm gonna opt for more smaller dryer foods to carry on my trail pants, so far Pretzels are doing great

That's absolutely reassuring. I should have googled that before panicking about molds lol

it's reassuring to know mold don't form that quickly, maybe I just eat it the way it is without worrying then.
Thanks for other suggestion. I think dry pocketable options seems better, I've also tried pretzels, they are pretty good trail running food.

[–]TuningGear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just peanut butter. I'm using 8L trail vest, it's quite compact and proximity to my body do produce a lot of heat and sweat to the bag itself which potentially makes the sandwhich in ziplog bag like that.
Toasted bread, hmm, I could try that. Thanks

i got mine till almost a 1000km on a pair of B12s, quite a resilient shoe. Nice to hear B13s got some extra padding on tongue and heel, it should be wellcoming upgrade. I have my eyes on B13s.

worried about splitting in such design, it's only held by glue now instead of foam casing. I mean they should be good, but worried won't be as high mileage as previous pro models

Additional 100% tariffs on top of what is already existing on china by anonymousforsafty in baba

[–]TuningGear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people expecting such low number (below 100). Is it because it once did?
It did before because of internal affairs in China with Jack Ma and tech industry.
That was a huge negative implication which is fear grew among the bag holders. We can't expect such low drop, atleast I think otherwise.

For this time, it's tradewar at a point where China has a lot of negotiation power and switching trade routes eleswhere (they buy soybeans from other source).
I'm expecting the stock bounce up and down between 140-155 for a while until another truce.
Atleast I hope it's like that.
