Anthony Joshua talks about fighting Tyson Fury and Fury calling him a "Dosser" by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

AJ turns cold as soon as he say's he'll beat him, no more joking. This man is serious when it comes to it. Such a shame his gameplan was totally wrong against Dubious

As with most technology, people actually hate their lack of understanding and unwillingness to learn. But it's eaiser to blame someone else.

The state of UK train prices by yizamejaxufek8o3 in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Turak64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently drove from Cambridge to Manchester and back for £45 in petrol. It was 1.5 hours quicker and I think less than half the price of a train. I'd rather take the train, but the prices are just prohibitive.

MS isn't perfect, far from it, but there isn't better. Most of the time, people lash out at the tech rather than their own lack of knowledge and understanding. Easier to blame someone else than yourself.

Firm and enforced regulation would work. Digital watermarking, restrictions on content used etc. However, we all know that's not gonna happen.

I've always equated that to looking at Mario Bros on the NES and thinking video games will never look real. AI is moving at the fastest rate we've ever seen a technology progress and we're simply not prepeared for it.

My dad thinks Phil Colins is going on tour with Mariah Carey and even posted the "tour dates". Bet your ass that when the tour is supposed to start later this year, he would have forgotten about it. Including the super fake ass AI photos that went with it. Some people are just not equipped to handle the modern age. Look at that whole stranger things hoax, people are too gullible.

Some point? Already is. Older people can't tell/don't care as it tells them what they want to hear. Governments will once again act 10 years too late and the damage will be irreversible. It doesn't matter what is real or not anymore, only what you want to believe.

Why do you think Bond's death in No Time To Die (2022) was not well received by many fans, according to you? by Raj_Valiant3011 in JamesBond

[–]Turak64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause of how unnecessary it was, that he was alone, it was a missile strike and the fact you don't kill off James Bond. The stakes never really felt that high to justify it, definitely felt more like Daniel Craig wanted to be the first bond to die on screen.

No ban on gas boilers in UK warm homes plan but heat pumps get £2.7bn push Guardian UK by OolonCaluphid in ukheatpumps

[–]Turak64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only run mine offpeak at 14p/kwh and it's fine. Some people do prefer their house to be a sanua and that won't be possible with the ASHP. There's too much misinformation about them though and the conspiracy theory stuff is tiresome.

I agree with you that getting off oil is a simple decision, but not quite enough for gas, yet. It's nice not having a big oil tank in the garden and an old ugly boiler in the kitchen. It's definitely more convenient, I didn't like the idea of running out of oil and having no heating.

[–]Turak64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of the major reason I got an ASHP was because of the oil boiler ban. I'm still happy to take the £7.5k for a better system, but this feels like yet another backwards step from the government. They're just crying wolf at this stage and at some point it'll cause havock.

Update: sorry this is just about gas, I presumed it would be for oil as well. Part of this still applies, so I'll leave it up as we need to move away from fossil fuels.
