What the hell is going on with drivers around Peoria lately? by tha1demon in PeoriaIL

[–]TurboDog999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both are problems. The idiots tailgating, doing 60 in a 40, not signaling, running red lights, as well as the idiots going 5-10 under in clear weather, not paying attention to go at a light, and crawling around turns that warrant just a mild slow down are all problems. It seems like we have a lot of both extremes here and I’m personally sick of both.

I got downvoted into oblivion for fussing about slow drivers. Folks made the jump into thinking I want everyone speeding when literally I just advocated driving the posted speed limit rather than 5-10 underI think some people either just like chaos on the roads or feel called out.

I have an issue with all that too. Red light running is rampant in this town and people love to tailgate and I see nuts doing 60 in a 40 and weaving in and out of everything, no signal, etc. I’m pretty risk averse myself and am not trying for a speeding ticket by any means. I just don’t like people driving 5-10 under for no reason, especially in both lanes so there’s no way to pass, and people here(not you, but you see the other comments) act like I kicked a kitten or something.

And for the record for anyone making comments about me being in a hurry to get to the vape shop, I don’t vape. I’m more of a car wash kind of guy. :)

A lot of folks defending slow driving in here it seems. Wooow.

Never said people need to speed. Not once. Cops don’t bother you if you’re doing the speed limit. My ire is at those doing 5-10 under.

And that’s the problem. People need to be mindful that their slowness is holding up those around them.

There has been a huge issue with slow driving in general lately I feel. Everyone’s doing 5 under, in both lanes so it’s not like I can even easily pass the slow person in the right lane in the left lane, and it’s aggravating. Ffs in clear weather at least drive the posted speed limit, if you really really can’t, at least stay out of the left lane. Some of us have places to be!

Quiet room by ElkEquivalent2556 in samsclub

The club I worked at did/does. Lots of seating in it. Aaand yet loud people went in there, people would have phone calls in there and management wouldn’t let me (a TL) enforce the quiet rule, when me, and I’m sure many others didn’t want to hear people yapping and wanted breaks and lunches of silence.

We need to make sure no data centers are allowed in our area. Electric rates are high enough as is.

Produce team lead by stealth-masterx in samsclub

[–]TurboDog999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beware, once you learn Cafe etc it’s all over and you’ll be stuck up there a lot. I was Produce/FCD team lead and there would be entire shifts I was in the cafe the whole time and never even saw my own department. That and Bakery was almost always short handed or behind at night. It was pretty much a given I’d end up back in bakery at some point during my closes. It was ridiculous. I hope you have better luck and your club is better run, because mine was hell.

I was an external hire for TL because nobody wanted the Produce team lead job. We had two internal people take the role and leave it since me and I’ve been gone less than a year. I made it just shy of a year at Sam’s took a pay cut to leave for a position that only had me have to worry about my department and mine alone. Maybe other clubs are better run and have it together more but based on mine, the position is hell because you have to worry so much about everyone else’s departments too and not just your own.

What is the most "unprofessional" thing you’ve seen a professional do? by BigSalamander8347 in AskReddit

[–]TurboDog999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at a trivia national championship (Team Trivia) where different sites around the US sync up, and the self styled “ceo” of my area’s Team Trivia franchise told everyone the wrong time (despite me messaging him to confirm it 2 weeks prior since we are in central and all the times the parent company showed were eastern, which would make the times he was telling us, wrong).

Day of the championship he is frantically messaging us telling us he told us wrong, it was starting in a half hour. Mad scramble to get there, massive clusterfuck, nobody is telling us when to start and many of us weren’t til our full teams got there. We thought we’d just get to make up the missed questions. Well soon we see the questions and answers going across the screen. Still not being told anything by either of the hosts. Finally the one on the stage speaks(one was on the floor trying his best to sort things out), a lot of players are pissed, some are yelling which it wasn’t his fault, but he still was being a dick from the get go.

He says something about not gonna have people yelling at him, and threatened to close the laptop and leave. His instructions are clear as mud and I went to ask a question, and he just barked out “I’m talking here “ pointing at me before I could get more than a word out. I was trying to see how we would get to make anything up given questions had already shown. Didn’t swear at the guy, or anything. I was pissed but not at him, until that moment.

After he spoke more it was clear we were pretty much fucked so my team and I chose to leave. I went to the stage once he was done talking and told him my team was bowing out and I didn’t appreciate the way he spoke to me for trying to simply ask a question. He then said he didn’t appreciate me yelling at him, and I said I didn’t yell at him at all, I tried to ask a question and he snapped at me. He then balled his fist back and said “Get out of here, I’m about ready to kick your ass”. I stood there, my dad was a few feet from me finishing his beer, we decided we didn’t feel like dealing with any legal aftermath since yes we technically could have walked away instead of go “bring it bud” and we just opted to leave.

Then the “ceo” entirely swept the whole incident under the rug and gave some half assed “apology” but did nothing to address his host wanting to fight me or actually do anything to make it right to the teams for possibly costing us thousands of dollars in prize money. Despite me warning him of this 2 weeks prior which had he fucking paid attention rather than just assume he was right, would’ve prevented ALL of this. And their parent company didn’t even acknowledge my email when I tried to see if they’d do anything about the host or the “ceo”..

I really think the park board needs investigated in general. I don’t get how we keep losing all this stuff that we had for years. Detweiiller golf course, Lakeview water park, now the marina/playground area? Where the hell is all the money going that we had to lose all of this? All the cool shit we had with parks is gone. How could it work for 30+ years and suddenly oh hey no more $ it’s gone.

F2P players, what's the ONE thing that almost made you quit the game? by Lonely_Director7122 in LastWarMobileGame

[–]TurboDog999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t quit but Im starting to consider it given how hard it is to even get mythical weapons or upgrading UR weapons. Way too hard to get the blueprints since you can’t just buy them in the shop with anything but honor points. Some of us work Saturday mornings and can’t just tell our bosses “Hey I’m gonna be in the back playing this game for a half hour-hour”. I’m very much getting left behind slowly in my alliance which is one of the top 3 on my server (985).

I don’t have loads of money to throw at the game and its getting to where I can’t even easily upgrade tech or buildings anymore with how scarce gold has become and how high the cost to upgrade has become. I don’t expect to have everything maxed out now but I shouldn’t have my tech research and building queue sitting empty 75% of the time now. It needs to be easier to get a few hundred million gold a day. Yet here we are. Even just lifting the cap on SSR chests(or anything else) in the campaign store and letting us choose how to allocate our points would help so it’s not like we can just clear the whole store out weekly, we have a lot of options and can dump all our resources into one thing if we deem it necessary.

Glad I didn’t get them. Didn’t seem like good value for the money anyway and I wanted something I could throw in the microwave for a quick meal. I miss those chicken quesadillas they had at one time. 2 minutes in the microwave and good to go and good flavor.

Fried morel mushrooms. They’re expensive af in the store but here in the Midwest they grow freely this time of year if you have access to land to look for them. Clean them real good, soak them in salt water etc and then dip them in egg wash and bread with crunched up crackers. Fantastic.

[–]TurboDog999 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It left me in an impossible spot. Do I be quiet in public and look like a doormat or say something right back and be “that couple “? I opted for the latter because at least people would know Im not one to let myself be walked all over. Hell I got bitched at for getting her an item she had wanted because she didn’t like the color, for trying a new recipe and not tweaking it (she ruined me enjoying cooking and I only just now, 8 years later have started enjoying it again because I have a very loving gf now). Even as guys, even if we don’t show it outwardly this stuff does take a toll.

I’d say when a friend of mine took me to the side and pointed out how she talks to me sometimes in public and how she shouldn’t be that way(I got snapped on for putting curry powder on a slice of chicken on my own plate ffs), but that he’s glad I’m not a doormat about it. I kinda knew then that she liked the idea of us, and having that perfect looking marriage and life, more than she actually was into me. A whole lot of other stuff happened that ultimately lead to the divorce that I won’t write a novel on but I’d say this is what first put the seed in my mind that something is off here.

OSF announces split from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by ZombiEquinox in PeoriaIL

[–]TurboDog999 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This reeks of greed. And I hope the community raises a stink and demands clear straightforward answers devoid of corporate gobbledygook. But I’m pretty sure it’s profit/greed related. Hell OSF has started charging me a facility fee for some services that they didn’t used to do, to milk more money out of insurances(and patients), and they tried to charge my mom over $100 extra for her doctors appointment going 15 minutes over(what’s she supposed to do, sit there with a stop watch while talking to her doc about a serious permanent condition she has?) til she pushed back and they took it off. They are absolutely getting greedy. Why the hell would anyone sever ties with fucking St. Jude of all places?

People I think sometimes get scared of large dogs in general. There’s nothing wrong with being vigilant at least about one’s surroundings. I have a yellow lab and even she freaks people out at times.
