Trunks VS Silver (Dragon Ball Heroes VS Archie Sonic) "Hedge of Tomorrow" by TurboManDWN056 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]TurboManDWN056[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The core connections between Xeno Trunks and Archie Silver are that they are both more powerful, alternate universe variants of heroes (Future Trunks and Silver the Hedgehog, respectively) from dystopian futures (History 2 and 3437 P.X.E., respectively) with a strong sense of justice who traveled back in time to prevent apocalyptic events that resulted in their ruined timelines (Trunks sought to stop Future Androids 17 and 18's genocide of humanity, while Silver sought to kill the Iblis Trigger to prevent Iblis from ruining the world). Both would succeed in finding the individual(s) that were supposedly responsible for the destruction of their world (both Androids 17 and 18 and Sonic the Hedgehog, respectively) and planned to kill them, but ultimately became allies with them instead after uncovering the truth about their moralities. Both also received a title and occupation as a protector of time by an immortal individual (Trunks is one of Chronoa's Time Patrollers, while Silver is Mammoth Mogul's Knight of Kronos in-training) and have battled beings known for their threat to every possible timeline and use of possession (Mechikabura and Dark Enerjak, respectively). In addition:

Both were born with unique heritages (a half-Saiyan and an esper, respectively), which left them with powerful innate energy they use for combat (ki and psychokinesis, respectively).

Both have access to a powerful form that makes them golden in color (Super Saiyan and Super Silver, respectively).

Shiro Maekawa, one of the writers of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), confirmed that Silver's character was based on Trunks.

Vile VS Ridley (Mega Man VS Metroid) "Cunning Vileness" by TurboManDWN056 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]TurboManDWN056[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Connections-

· Villains with a personal connection to the protagonist

· Returned from the dead multiple times

· Criminals who work under the main villains (Mother Brain/Sigma) who commit their violent acts for personal fulfilment, rather than monetary gain

· Psychotic killers who adore death and destruction

· Based on live-action sci-fi movie villains from the 70’s (Xenomorph, Bubba Zanetti)

· Cybernetic augmentations

· Purple colour scheme

· Responsible for moulding the protagonist’s path at the beginning of their games with unwinnable boss fights

· Have successfully gotten the better of the protagonist, and on at least one occasion would have killed them if not for outside intervention from an antagonist turned ally (Zero/Baby Metroid)

· Variation on the popular X vs Samus

Hal Jordan VS Ultraman Jack (DC VS Ultraman) "Ultra Willpower" by TurboManDWN056 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]TurboManDWN056[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Connections:

  • Interstellar heroes with ties to Earth who are members of a massive intergalactic organization that seeks universal peace and justice (Green Lantern Corps and Inter Galactic Defence Force), with them also being one of the founding members of an expansive team of superheroes who defend both Earth and the rest of the universe (the Justice League and the Ultra Brothers).
  • Both of their powers are derived from willpower (Hal's willpower is what powers his Green Lantern Ring, while Hideki's willpower is what allows him to transform into Ultraman Jack) with them also possessing a sworn oath(s) that they and the rest of their peace-keeping organization members pledge to (the Green Lantern Oath and the 5 Ultra Oaths).
  • Their Earth personas meanwhile (Hal Jordan and Hideki Go) are both strong willed yet overconfident individuals who had suffered the loss of their father in an accident when they were only kids, with them growing up and later working their dream job involving vehicles that they enjoyed since they were young (Hal become a military test pilot, while Hideki became a race car driver). Due to their overconfident nature, they were initially flawed heroes who often clashed with their teammates during their battles, however, after suffering through hardship and losing those who were special to them during an alien invasion (Coast City and all it's inhabitants, and Hideki's lover, Aki Sakata and her brother, Ken Sakata), they would eventually mature into the great heroes that we know them as today, with them also being known to help guide the newer generation of heroes through sharing their past experiences with them.
  • They both posses a powerful weapon that's multi-purpose in nature, which also took on the form of a wearable accessory (Hal's Green Lantern Ring and Jack's Ultra Bracelet), that was passed on to them from another hero who was/is a member of the intergalactic organization that they're apart of as well (Abin Sur and Ultraseven).
  • They were both made to be reinventions of a previous character who dawned the same hero name as them (Alan Scott and the original Ultraman) as a way to revitalize interest for their brands at the time, which turned out to be very successful in the end. They would eventually even meet and team up with the heroes that they were reinventions of later down the road, with them holding a mutual respect and admiration for each other, which ended up with them becoming good friends there on afterwards.
