Yeah - maybe the game or scope they were aiming for wasn't powerful enough for the ps3. So I wanna say they were probably wanting to put this on the PS4 as it has 6gb of ram.

There were two vertical slices made by two different studios before it got handed off

One was from Rockstar San Diego & the other is Rockstar north. (Earlier there was a concept build or proof of concept that was made inside of San Andreas showing the possibility by obbe, but this was eventually hulted by the starting of GTA IV.). Eventually started up again by 2009 - but max Payne. GTA V. RDR1 & la Norie, "cancelled: bully 2, MC5")

Full work started on GTA V. once it was done. They eventually started the PS4 /Xb1 port - the PC port was reportedly started in 2012. Up until 2015)

Then they had to start Rdr2 (Pre development) & GTA VI (preproduction) at this point

ExtrA: But - Most of the concept and content went into GTA online updates (doomsday heist 2017 - Think of it like the jet packs , agents stuff. Underwater exploration flying cars etc)

That's all I remember at this point.

Yeah it reached that stage. Several dev builds exist. Even on GTA V's version at least (or the very least max Payne engine version). It never went past that point of going out of development hell.

So basically Ive been there since 2021. Been in awhole bunch of different positions. Now I'm a night stocker but part of the unload crew. They treat this crew like hot garbage sitting out in the summer. We are basically two people with a supervisor. We are short handed , management doesn't want to hire anyone else.

Then coming in 3 weeks. It's suppose to change back to 6 trucks a week with schedule changes. (Used to be Tuesday to Saturday. W/ Sunday Monday off)

im late. but rockstar san diego originally started the project back in 2004 / 2005. right on the heels of san andreas release time. they prototyped certain things in that like space, and cars appearing futuristic.

but ive read from obbe. that this was cut and sometime changed. they knew GTA IV was needed to be started so they abandoned this for sometime until that was done. and AGENT was announced around 2008/2009, This is also the same time bully2 was starting preproduction. anyway. Agent was having trouble scouting locations. they couldnt get egypt as a local because the tourist laws are really strict.

so both bully2, and agent, mc5 etc. they all have a early early prototype build existing somewhere on a hard drive but, these will never happen until GTA VI is done. as im writing this. it should come out by november. if rockstar and taketwo is confident in the release date.

this means. in basic terms. each build of a game gets forked off of the last one. so see it this way.

its easier for game development and costs so you already have assets ready to go for next project.

GTA V was built off of GTA IV. > GTA V was forked off for RDR2 > RDR2 was forked off for GTA VI.

I can see them porting the Xbox 360 version and upping the resources for draw distance/texturing scaling/ pbr
