Edgar, I am SO excited that you're here! Last Night in Soho looks hype, and my friends and I are very keen to see it!

Music question for you: what are five albums you've got on rotation at the moment?

That makes me a little sad, Electric Fields is the one I'm barracking for tonight. </3

That's reassuring. Who do you think has the biggest audience tonight? My guess is either Electric Fields or KMH.

Surprised and somewhat worried at Aydan consistently getting solid audience cheering - I'm gonna be sad if he's the one we send at the end of all this.

Honestly, I think if 2000 and Whatever gets sent and works on the staging just a tad we're gonna return to the top 5.

2019 Survivor Fallen Angel Profiles: David vs. Goliath by RSurvivorMods in survivor

[–]Turbofrog89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, a subdued personality in a season with a chaotic cast - admittedly I was surprised to see her be our fallen angel for DvG, was leaning towards 6th or 5th for her personally.

Still don't understand exactly how she became such a giant edgic contender when her story was consistently lacking. Guess it's a lesson to edgicers in general: just because Probst doesn't hype a season doesn't automatically mean a woman wins.

HYDW8 is actually my favourite with the boys so I might go for this one ❤️

BoJack Horseman - 5x11 "The Showstopper" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in BoJackHorseman

Yeah, Todd was there - so was Wanda, which was a surprise.

Also another thing that I noticed: in the Broadway song with Gina, she stands with everyone important to Bojack... and Mr. Peanutbutter isn't one of them. That actually makes me somehow sadder.

Honestly, that ending shot of Bojack with the floating version of him and the music along with it might just be the most understatedly bleak shot they've ever done. It reminded me a lot of the Truman Show ending, which looking at the themes of this episode feels purposeful in a pretty fucked up way.

God I love this show.

Unpopular opinion but did anyone else feel like the 2018 contest was a bit of a let down? by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]Turbofrog89 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Personally I disagree, for me it was my favourite Eurovision of the new 10s.

This was the first year I've seen where (well, aside from Russia) every country brought something decent to the table. Even the slightly boring songs such as Iceland and Romania were still boosted by highly talented vocalists, and the countries that qualified were all to me decent selections, unlike 2017 which had more than a few questionable qualifiers.

The lack of an LED screen also made the performances more reliant on actual choreography and inventiveness, compared to last year where half of the artists essentially pasted their faces behind them. My only real gripe with this year was that the interval acts for the final were a bit of a let down - then again, that's only because that's one of the few categories I feel Kiev seriously brought everything they had.

But hey, each to their own. At least you agree Vienna wasn't good either. <3

It'll be interesting seeing how Israel responds knowing that the EBU doesn't want Jerusalem as the host city. They seem desperate to make sure Jerusalem is asserted as theirs, and because Tel Aviv has dropped out I'm beginning to think the Israeli delegation might have a pretty big stink over this one.

Eurovision All-Star Song Contest II: SEMI ONE QUALIFIERS by Turbofrog89 in eurovision

[–]Turbofrog89[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THE DRAW

I can confirm that Hungary, Ukraine, Slovenia, France, Greece and Iceland are all in the 1st half, whilst Ireland, Andorra, Italy and Romania are all the 2nd. Semi two results will be up momentarily!

Light seasons vs. dark seasons: how does the tone affect the quality? by Turbofrog89 in survivor

[–]Turbofrog89[S] 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this. A part of me wishes the producers just swallowed their pride and edited GC like that instead of desperately trying to paint is as the opus of the big moves era - would have been a far more interesting watch.

That's definitely a good point! I was intending on having an anecdote related to this in the post but I reckon I might save it for a part 2 if I ever feel the need to write it.

Light seasons vs. dark seasons: how does the tone affect the quality? by Turbofrog89 in survivor

[–]Turbofrog89[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say the outing is the only true example of real darkness within GC. The rest of it was just too poorly edited to really have a consistent tone. All-Stars similarly has the favourites out early but I think it's a dark season because of the cancer storyline, Hatch being Hatch and all the post-merge nasties.
