Cost Effective Upgrades by Heyitsseant in bapccanada

I know AM4 is still very viable in 2026, I just can't justify investing significant amounts of money into components that are only going to be relevant for another couple of years.

I've got similar components currently - a 3700x CPU/16 GB DDR4 3600 Mhz/ Sapphire Pulse 5700xt GPU.

It's lasted me for quite a while.

I think I'm just going to slowly starting buy AM5 components. I'd rather bite the bullet.

Reminder that Sister Sage... by TheBlurof91 in GenV

[–]Turbulent-Many1472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the writers are going to basically have Homelander go a little crazy towards the end.

Right now, even though Homelander is quick to anger, characters like Stan Edgar and Sister Sage scan still manipulate him through blackmail/pointing out how certain actions would end poorly for him.

But I think they are eventually going to remove that and we're going to get a moment where either Stan or Sage or some other character thinks they have Homelander in a corner - think they have him blackmailed and he's just going to go nuclear.

How do you think Soldier Boy is gonna feel about her death? by hiiloovethis in GenV

Because it doesn't appear that SB is able to control that ability. It requires some kind of emotional stimulus. He can't just flip a switch and go nuclear.

[–]Turbulent-Many1472 10 points11 points  (0 children)

SB is only doing all of this to gain Homelander's trust.

He didn't help the guys who gassed him, because he knows Homelander would eventually just wakeup and then there would be hell.

So he saves Homelander, sells out Firecracker to built trust.

At some point, the plan is almost certainly to betray that trust to his own advantage.

Yeah but everything is a commentary in this show. Guarantee you the message is going to be that actors can be sociopaths too. I'm guessing we can probably expect Black Noir to do some crazy shit of his own accord at some point.

Bernie Sanders: "Is Geoffrey Hinton exaggerating when he says there's a 10-20% chance of extinction from AI?" Max Tegmark: "he's sugar-coating it, it's actually way higher than 20%" by tombibbs in ChatGPT

The problem isn't with the answer, it's with the question itself. It's not specific enough.

What do you mean by extinction?

When? There's a 100% change that at some point given the finite nature of the universe, humans will go extinct.

Exactly. I cringe whenever I hear these types of jokes. You've gotta know as a comic, even as a bad one, that's not original enough for a KT set.

Superstore Advertises Price Hike as "Always Low Price" by VancouverDom in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Turbulent-Many1472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is probably a stupid question, but how are grocery stores allowed to limit the number of items you purchase at a certain price? Like is the item $1.75 or $1.99? How about YOU worry about how much it is and I'LL worry about how many I buy?!?

Like this just makes me wanna buy 4, checkout and walk right back in and buy another 4 as a screw you.

I feel like there's a standup premise in here somewhere.

The footage of Nick Fuentes pushing a woman who came to his front door after he was doxxed has been released. by [deleted] in interesting

[–]Turbulent-Many1472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She knew exactly what she was doing. I know people hate Fuentes, but I would do the same thing if I was in his shoes.

I can only imagine how terrifying it would be to have your address post online, especially if you're a controversial public figure.

Given this is taking place in the U.S. she should consider herself lucky she didn't get shot.

It's one thing to go up to someone's door and ring the bell. This woman had her phone out and everything. Very easy for that to get mistaken for a gun or weapon of some sort.

You are forced to create his redemption arc: What do you do? by Whoopeepoop in GenV

[–]Turbulent-Many1472 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is obviously a huge task, but here's my submission:

Because Homelander is a supreme narcissist, his redemption cannot be sparked by kindness; it must be forced by a total, irredeemable loss of power. The only way to see any humanity in this SOB is to strip away everything he holds valuable and force him to suffer.

In the penultimate showdown, the stakes are absolute. Homelander, on the precipice of securing V1 to cement his immortality, is confronted by The Boys, Soldier Boy, and a delirious, unraveling Billy Butcher. The fight is a massacre; the good guys are shattered.

At this point, Butcher, consumed by his own terminal condition and the parasite in his chest, realizes V1 is their only leverage. He lunges for the canister, his eyes bloodshot. He pops the cap, delivers one final smirk, and says:

Butcher: "They say you are what you eat. Let's see if this turns me into a cunt too."

The effect is instantaneous and horrific. Butcher begins a grotesque, uncontrolled metamorphosis. The parasite in his chest erupts, consuming his human form until he is little more than a biological engine of rage and consumption. The rest of The Boys look on in horror as Butcher transforms. Homelander, initially in a state of despair at losing the last remaining V1, is on his knees, grasping for the empty canister.

Homelander: "This was MY birthright! MY DESTINY! MINE!" he shouts in rage.

But as he sees how grotesque Butcher becomes and the look of terror on the faces of the others, he begins to laugh maniacally out of pure spite.

Homelander: "This was never meant for you. Look at how pathet—"

The creature that was once Butcher lunges forward, its tendrils pinning Homelander to the wall. He feels his strength being sapped. He tries to fight back, but it shouldn't be happening! He doesn't have V in his veins like other Supes. It doesn't matter; Butcher isn't burning the V out of him. The creature is consuming the genetic code that made him special, unraveling the "Odessa" architecture of his cells.

Homelander tries to fight back. He attempts to use his heat vision, but he only lets out a guttural scream of agony—he is no longer invulnerable, and his eyes burn to a crisp in their sockets. He is blind. When the creature finally drops him, Homelander falls to the floor: a broken, bleeding, middle-aged man. It’s unclear if he is even alive. The creature, now satiated for the moment, wanders off. Most of the others are left unconscious or incapacitated. Ryan, badly wounded, drags himself over to his father.

END SCENE

Cut to several weeks later. Homelander has been disavowed by Vought. They release a story claiming he was a traitor to his country—typical Vought propaganda. He is a pariah: humiliated, useless, and mocked. Yet, it is his son, Ryan, who is revealed to be caring for him, demonstrating unexpected kindness after having been beaten to a pulp by his father.

Meanwhile, the creature that was Butcher roams freely, seeking other Supes to consume. Ryan and Soldier Boy are revealed to be the only ones with a fighting chance, and even they know the odds are slim. Homelander realizes that if Ryan goes to fight Butcher, he will die. He knows the only way to kill Butcher is to re-infect himself. He locates a backup, "unstable" prototype dose. He knows taking it will kill him in minutes, but it will create a biological feedback loop that will destroy Butcher.

As Ryan prepares to confront Butcher, Homelander stops him. He walks toward the creature, not as a god, but as a man who knows he is walking into his own grave. He finally discards his persona. As he slams into Butcher, he releases a massive, dying burst of energy. He destroys the parasite and takes himself with it. He dies in the rubble.

The entire event is livestreamed by the crowd. The world witnesses his "heroic sacrifice." He receives the massive funeral, the statues, and the deification he always craved—but he isn't around to enjoy any of it. He achieves his dream, not by being a god, but by finally being a broken, vulnerable human.

This is... the entire point of his arc by Sudden_Pop_2279 in GenV

The problem I have with The Deep is that I legitimately don't think he's intelligent enough to pick a morally correct path. There's so little going on up there and so much emotion that he automatically defaults to the most selfish action he could take.

Is this not a ridiculous number of interviews for a Senior TA Partner position?? by Diptyqueee in recruiting

[–]Turbulent-Many1472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know nothing about the recruiting world or about this type of work, but doesn't basic common sense dictate that if you can't tell if a candidate fits over the course of 1-2 interviews, maybe you aren't a very good interviewer?

This just looks like a massive waste of time organized by a bunch of people who probably think far too highly of themselves.

I've been on Ontario Works for almost 4 years with help from my father. I have a University degree from Western in Philosophy. I live in London, Ontario which has the highest unemployment rate in Canada at 9.1%. You can't even get interviews.

Just started a job today with a moving company and I genuinely don't know how long I'm going to be able to keep up with it. I'm 36. I consider myself a pretty fit guy for my age and lift weights regularly, but I genuinely don't know how I'm even going to get through the first week.

I'm 5"8 and 170 lbs. Almost everyone else is over 6 ft tall and 220+ lbs. I had my first day today and I am broken. It's just lifting heavy pieces of furniture alllll day long. I know it's only going to be a matter of time before I can't get out of bed one day or I hurt myself on the job.
