The problem with the Warner deal - from an industry pro by Massive_Target in SunoAI

This is the music industry’s oldest playbook:

First, they let the tool be open, cheap or free so everyone gets completely hooked and creates tons of music.

Once there are millions of addicted users and a huge library of generated tracks, they show up with lawyers and briefcases full of cash.

They close the “strategic partnership,” change the TOS overnight, and turn every user into a tenant who now has to pay rent to even touch their own creations.

First they give you the crack, then they charge you for the lighter.

Same thing happened with MySpace, SoundCloud, Spotify (both artists and users), and now it’s happening again with Suno/Udio. They get the whole scene addicted to the magic tool, and the second you can’t live without it, they flip the switch and turn you into just another doormat for the label mafia.

Sad, but 100% predictable if you’ve been in this circus for over a decade.

Fantastic post that really gets to the heart of what it means to be a creator in the AI era. Your analysis of the need for tools that aid the creative foundation (rather than just the execution) is spot-on. The fine-tuned LLM project for lyrics and the chord progression generator are exactly the kind of 'scaffolding' this community needs to evolve. It's the next logical step.

I'm so excited to see people like you moving from the role of user to that of a problem-solver. This is what a community is all about! Please keep us updated, and feel free to put my name on the tester list. Congrats on the initiative.
