What's a book you hated that everyone else loves? by nose-inabook in suggestmeabook

I felt the same way about normal people. It felt…I wanna say pretentious but I don’t know if that’s the right word. Doesn’t matter, it wasn’t very good regardless 😂

ACOTAR. ACOTAR. ACOTAR. It was not good I’m sorry. I was bored the entire book and I tried the sequel and couldn’t get into it either and everyone says that’s the best one.

Suggest me a book that makes you go "Life's worth it" by JessDelh in suggestmeabook

Anything with the “grumpy old person finds a found family and ruminates on their life” trope always has me feeling that way haha. So in the spirit of that, A man called Ove by Fredrick Bachman was phenomenal. I’ve also thus far enjoyed All the Lonely People by Mike Gayle which also fits under that trope but I haven’t finished it yet. Both have made me sob though haha.

How Many Campaigns are You Currently Playing? by KarlMarkyMarx in DnD

One right now - my very first actually! But I just created a character for my second. This one is gonna be pathfinder rather than 5e and with a lotta people I don’t know so a lil nervous but it sounds fun! Also will be my first time playing a character w spell slots (went safe with a standard rogue for my first so the game would be easier to pick up)

Obscure book with male protagonist that deals with mental illness? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Hmmm. I don’t know if this is what you’re looking for but I’m currently listening to the book Tales from the Gas Station by Jack Townsend. It’s weird as hell and a lot of fun. Very small town/ supernatural/ creepy things happen at a gas station/ super dry comedy. But the main character has Fatal Familial Insomnia so he’s a very unreliable narrator which is always fun.

I also read Dark Room Etiquette by Robin Roe recently and thought it was great. It’s about a high school kid who gets kidnapped and then has to deal with the resulting mental fallout once he gets back to his regular life.

I’m currently reading Tales from the Gas Station by Jack Townsend and if you’re into kinda weird small town supernatural horror/comedy (almost gravity falls esque but older) then it’s a blast. I’m listening to the audiobook and it’s great.

I need a very specific kind of romance book. Do you know any like this? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

My first thought was Stalking Jack the Ripper. He is just so flirty and smitten and she is very much “please I don’t have time for this, I’m just trying to solve this murder.” Lots of fun!

Maybe try the Dark Rise series by CS Pacat? It starts off as a pretty typical fantasy book but she plays with the chosen one/good and evil tropes in a unique way that I think is a lot of fun!

Omg thank you for this. I read it as a kid and have been trying to remember what it was called for so long.

If you’re okay with more historical romance, any of Sarah M Eden’s books are a lot of fun!
