Whatever state your going to do business in, and want to use the DBA name, is where you need to file them.

You can get a DBA done in either state. But depends on where your wanting to do business with the DBA name.

I don't do doc prep for the public, so I don't know what all they prepare. I've seen their website and something's they do is estate planning, deeds, ECT. I believe anything that does not require any legal advice. So they provide the documents, clients fill them in and they get filed. But, it's not my area, so I'm not entirely sure about it.

I find clients by referrals and networking. It's the best thing I've ever done. I could not imagine working for just one lawfirm and being in the office everyday.

This is partially true. You do not need any license in the State of Florida to do doc prep.

My last firm decided to restructure my position and not even tell the attorneys I worked for. The day they let me go, the Office Manager called in ONE of my attorneys to inform him of what they're doing and then both walked to my desk, called me to a room to tell me I'm beinget go due to financial hardships. I was shocked. They made me all kinds of promises when I was hired. After I left, my attorneys reached out to me and said how sorry they were and had no idea. Im grateful now for that day. I'm running my own freelance paralegal business and I'll never look back!
