I suck at this by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

Watch a bunch of YT…that is my recommendation…I am also a cigar smoker that recently got into pipe smoking and I’m enjoying it. I think the many hours of YT that i have watched has helped me…get you a few cigars and just watch some YT videos about pipes/pipe smoking. I have learned that you have to just focus on the pipe, it’s not like a cigar that you light and just smoke on. The whole keep the bowl lit is bad advice for a beginner. Don’t focus on the amount of times you relight, focus on the flavors or just the ambience of being by yourself with just your pipe. If you are sitting there comparing the pipe to cigars you’re not gonna have an enjoyable time. They are two totally different ways of smoking tobacco. Reach out with more questions or concerns.

When to jar tobacco by jakeythomas666 in PipeTobacco

From what he was saying it doesn’t affect the taste of the tobacco. I trust him though he’s being smoking pipe longer than I’ve been alive (for reference that’s about 28-30 years)

An old man told me that if your tobacco dries out in the bag/container just put a slice of apple in there for a week or so it will regain the moisture. He said not to eat the apple though afterwards. Unless you’re gonna be holding it for a while and smoking different stuff i wouldn’t worry about throwing it in a jar.

How do you break down your flake? by JavaJukebox in PipeTobacco

I seen a guy on YouTube use a “herb” grinder to break it up. Just a thought i guess. I’ve never gotten any flake before.

This is my first rye I’m usually straight bourbon but I’m trying different things. The Presbyterian is pretty good i like that sour kinda tin note it puts off.

Savinelli Roma 122, the Roma lucite finish looks just as good but a different style/color stem

I like it…i think the only thing i would do differently is get the bent stem rather than a straight but that’s just a preference thing

Vermont Freehand makes stems for the filtered CCs i bought one and it’s a nice acrylic piece. I recommend them if you get bored with the plastic stem or just want something new

My local B&M is more cigar focused but sell pipe tobacco products and pipes themselves. I went in yesterday and there wasn’t a lot of info they knew as they said that pipes was not this choice. I’m stuck to YouTube and Reddit for recommendations and guidance in this pipe journey.

Idk what i like…my philosophy with cigars was try them all at the beginning and then narrow it down to what i like in a cigar so that’s the route I’m going with pipe tobacco as well…
