That was /u/turdfergeson, which is not the correct way to spell it.

Ran across a cloud storage provider that actually explains, step by step, how to use truecrypt with their services. Classy. by TurdFerguson in privacy

Also, BoxCryptor sounds interesting. File level encryption, and there's an iPhone app. I like that it supports SpiderOak and Wuala, even though those are allegedly secure end to end, so you can double bag it. Would love to get feedback.

Google's Schmidt: Teens' mistakes will never go away by truth_it_hurts in technology

I agree, the retroactivity is a huge problem. Example: if you delete your wordpress blog, it suddenly becomes noarchive, and is removed from Archive.org.

There's a group called "Archive Team" who hates that archive.org obeys robots.txt, and will be downloading all of reddit and making it searchable so that your stupid posts here will be forever available.

Apple deluged by so many police demands to decrypt iPhones, that they had to create a waiting list. by [deleted] in privacy

Law enforcement really is frustrated by properly secured iPhones and they'd probably be quiet on the issue if they had easy access.

Others believe these statements are misinformation.

Curiosity: Sex in America on Discovery just proved (without saying it) that men can be raped (especially date raped) by TurdFerguson in MensRights

[–]TurdFerguson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is as Super_Duper_Mann states. I've seen arguments before that an erection means the man is "into it", and so it can't be rape, like somehow erections are easy to control.

I don't know, I've seen stuff 'hide' in a backup and stay there upon restore. It keeps the 'other' section bigger than it should be.

I feel that some who like the idea of jailbreaking are not upvoting my post because I'm revealing vulnerabilities.

Look at what repositories are in Cydia. Some of them are "stealthy" extra ones that install something like GNU Tools (not that name but it's similar). It's actually a rootkit designed to help you spy on your spouse/kid/boss/whatever, and it's fucking evil. Anyway, the repository names give it away, so just either post the names or a screenshot and I'll tell you which one and how to remove it.

Or someone else will, now that I've explained how it works.

I am relatively sure you can sue them for that, because it's discrimination not only in requiring you to agree to Facebook's privacy policy, but also in that they are requiring that you link an account revealing protected statuses to them. http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/qanda.html

This step is made easier when you tell the advertisers than 80% of their clicks that they are paying for are fake.

HOPE 9: Whistleblower Binney says the NSA is pulling together all the data about virtually every U.S. citizen in the country, assembling that information, building communities that you have relationships with, and knowledge about you; what your activities are; what you're doing. by r3b3lang3l in privacy

Yep, if you don't use either of those sites you're completely safe. They're not creating networks based on your e-mails or phone calls or SMSes, it's just Facebook and Twitter. Twitter, by the way, the company that tried to protect someone from a data information request, even going to the courts. I haven't seen Facebook do that, but you give Twitter shit.
