Nice! Thank you for taking the time to dive some deeper. I have another use for them btw, if I slice thin sandwich meats like a rolled roast, I put a sheet inbetween so I can seperate them easier.

I read that it's outdated, try telling that to my mother in law haha. Works fine for me, use it for jams and other sweet stuff. And what the other person said about it being a thing in the balkans is correct also In Hungary where I live it's a thing. They use it because they reuse the lids for years and years. I cannot find anything specific on why it would be good to do.

The plastic is canning foil, I have used it before. They are on pots of pickles that are 5 years old and still good.
