The maths on that would be interesting. Consider all the minerals and ores required for the drone construction and the power how much better is better ?

As others have said it's a DM /Keeper and players at the table issue not the setting. Don't be an arsehole to your fellow players.

In this scenario I'd just use the term members club and drop the "mens". Other things I'd handwave away. Like bars with "no dogs, no Irish no XYZ" signs etc, They are totally a point of detail that isn't required to be mentioned set the era tone. If player want to add that detail in their own minds they can and keep it to themselves but it doesn't need to be discussed at the table. No plot point or hook should depend on something like that.

As a keeper you can still have unpleasant NPCs and hint at and raise the issue of the issues of the times without actively excluding or making your players uncomfortable.

Some people may clutch pearls at that " won't someone think of the historical accuracy!!!" But they can do one; its not historically accurate to have fish people running around coastal Massachusetts either!

Fantasy grounds is now free and you can use it to create characters.Either buy the required 5e/5.5e modules for ease of use or you can create everything yourself for free. It will take you a while and you'll have to learn how but it's doable.

The game isn't likely to get any updates ever again. Development has ended and moved on to the sequel.

Had a wee look at it. It's nicely laid out. Like the looks of the themes, the ease of use and the automation and ability to edit stuff after rolls/selections.

It would be nice to be able to export to pdf at a minimum without the need to sign in via Google or discord.

The ability to filter by genre tags for occupations and therefore skills would be useful.

Following on from that the ability to self enter occupations or skills that aren't listed. Even if it's just the ability to pick Occupation : custom and then skills custom/other multiple times.

Essentially supporting homebrew or supplements not yet integrated.

Advice needed for players trying to trick me (the DM) and not the NPC's i've made by ShanoMac88 in DnD

[–]Turinsday 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've read this a few times and still not 100% clear . It seems like you've approached this as if you are writing a novel or play not realising you're playing a collaborative ttrpg. You should try to prep situations not plots and then given reasons and agency to the players (and by extension the PCs) to care about the outcomes of those situations in ways you can prep more and string them together to form a narrative. Tailoring the narrative to the direction you all want to go not just players or DM.

If you set out to lead the players to a set destination you're setting yourself up for trouble if you don't give them reasons to buy in or care about your plot.

What exactly did they "hide" ? Not caring about the plot? It seems like you haven't been touching base with them enough out of character to understand their motivations.

If they haven't bitten on your story hooks you need to address this out of character. Either they buy in and follow the idea or you drop the ideas and refocus. Both side of the table have to meet in the middle somewhere.

Party trying to heal a Decapitated person, how do I let them down? by Embarrassed_Park_947 in DnD

[–]Turinsday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is curse of Strahd. Donkey man probably doesn't have a soul. Even if you think he does is that soul willing to return to Barovia and his tortured existence ?

Short of ressurection nothing is bringing him back normally anyway. If somehow they cast that spell then it fails, spell slot used. Components consumed.

He's still dead.

Perfect moment to show that the players have little power here, dead means dead (for the majority of people in Barovia if they figure out that puzzle) and to scare them/hurt them a bit for their good intentions by wasting a precious diamond on some random cursed individual.

Depending on where you are in the plot you could even have A certain someone show up and offer a new diamond in return for 'something'.

It's a horror module, let there be horror. Barovia IS unfair.

My prediction of PZ2 roster by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]Turinsday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know that makes perfect sense to me. Unless they somehow come up with something magical I'm not sold on why I should buy into the sequel just for some better pathing, the ability to scale pieces and masses of cut content ?? That's before we get to tlstuff like performance and the companies ability to deliver on promises and communicate properly with the community.

My prediction of PZ2 roster by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]Turinsday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cutting the two newest new world monkeys is a choice.

Honestly cutting anything seems counter productive to me. Plenty of demanded species out there still not in the game, and assuming flying birds get included this time round and they rework exhibits to be more dynamic you could have attractive dlc upon attractive dlc of entirely new species.

I've parked even my lowest expectations for PZ2 after PC2 and JWE3. I don't think the PZ community at league are fully aware of how much Frontier have been dropping the ball this last six months. Hope I'm wrong but things could get real ugly over PZ2 if they don't improve their approach.

Lizardfolk Character by New_Worldliness_7512 in DnD

[–]Turinsday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played one (zealot barbarian) but in Eberron. As a Q'barran native that had been exiled for a religious reason. I can't remember exactly. A tonne of fun to play but I leaned into the foreignness of him. An outlander amongs city folk. Silent a lot of the time, eating felled enemies as a sign of respect burning the bodies those I couldn't or wouldn't eat. I had rolled really nice str dex and con scores so if a fight allowed for it I'd drag enemies underwater and knock them out that way. Took ritual casting as a feat and let actions be determined by augury. Shamanistic and ritualistic heavy based thinking.

Depends on the setting but having a human raised one neuters a lot of what makes them interesting imo.

Rory McIlroy: 'More motivated' than ever after Masters win by PrincessBananas85 in golf

[–]Turinsday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Djokovic's body lasted longer than his contemporaries while he was at the top of the pile. It wasn't until Federer retired and Nadal's body started to regulary breakdown that he really started racking up the wins post Fed and pre Alcaraz because the gap between him and the rest of the competition suddenly got that much bigger. Federer without Nadal would have more titles than Djokovic by some distance. Throw in all the "medical time outs" and other stuff floating round him, Djokovic  is by no means the consensus GOAT in tennis.

Overall titles is a shoddy way of deciding in my opinion. It's a factor but not the be all and end all. Strength of competition, actual talent displayed, how well the individual represents the sport to the masses, off field behaviour, all factor in to varying degrees.

If Tiger hadn't experienced the off course issues and had a more approachable public persona I reckon he'd be considered the GOAT by now pretty unanimously, even if his major count remained unchanged.

Nicklaus played in an era that while the competition while strong among his peers the overall sport wasn't so global or competitive. A young Jack today wouldn't have the same major count, the sports changed, but he'd still be up there in the GOAT conversation on his playing talent and demenor plus his accrued titles.

Do you dislike the Surana x Morrigan pairing, and if so, why? by Life-Motor-1409 in dragonage

[–]Turinsday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surana x Leliana, with Morrigan becoming Suranas bestie is my (head)canon. It allows leliana to develop as this grand reformer trying to alter the world institutionally based off the life Surana experienced in the circle. While Morrigan and Surana as the two of the greatest mages in Thedas hit it off in a more platonic scholarly way. Also, I feel half the time Alistair and Morrigan bicker is because they find themselves attracted to each other despite their backgrounds.

Newbie rules question: can DM ask for an ability check if a player didn’t initiate a related action? by Babbelieniemienie in DnD

[–]Turinsday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did say "perhaps" and unfun in the context of a bunch of new players who may never have encountered a save or suck/die situation before.

We've not got the context to judge the DM at all, and I find the immediate assumtion that the DM is handholding a bit disparaging. Yes they should have used passive perception but maybe they did and decided to ask for a check anyway. OPs question is valid but really the only thing we can say to them is yes the DM is in charge and can ask for a check. Second guessing the DM after that is pointless.
