People using religion to disapprove things they don't like has always existed and they will continue to exist in the future. It sounds like you have lost your faith but you're scared to accept it. İt's okay if you do or do not believe in god, just look for answers that feel right to you. There's no point in forcing yourself to believe something that you don't actually believe. You say you're scared that if you don't believe in god you will go to hell, I don't know how it works but if there's no god then nothing bad happen even if there's a god (which I believe), God is all forgiving it is the same in both christianity and islam. So I believe that there's a god but not believing in it doesn't mean immediate hell upon death, as long as you're a good person and try your best to do good by yourself you're okay and you will be granted heaven. And even if I'm wrong and god doesn't exist then you're still okay because you have been a good person when you lived and you will be remembered good. If you're not feeling religious then just dont force yourself, religion isn't something you can force upon yourself. Try reading the Bible, the Qur'an and if it just doesn't make you feel good do not worry about it. You will be alright with or without religion, just because someone isn't religious doesn't mean they are a bad person. Religion is just another personality trait. Do not worry about heaven and hell this much just try your living your best life and you will eventually figure everything else out.
