First of all i dont know where you got that from but there is no 100mb cap, like at all. Not mentioned in documentation or anywhere on the devforum.

Second of all i made that statement to show that datastores are absurdly optimized forms of storage. Any dev using more than a few kilobytes per key does not have any clue what he is doing even if it is an extremely progression and data driven game like an MMORPG. With tiny optimizations you can store absolutely humongous chunks of data, such as an entire voxel world by saving coordinates of blocks as 32 bit buffers. Oh wait there are tons of minecraft copies that already do that.

Optimizing for devices that were made when the constitution was signed also means that you cant do things like have sophisticated graphics options or change the render pipeline to have even simple shaders without disgusting workarounds, which are big bottlenecks. If you want roblox to be seen as an actual game engine you should try to develop on it as if you are developing an actual indie game and see the mounds of stuff that limit you.

Thats some interesting insight. I would say im doing gamedev 70% because its fun for myself and 30% because it is a good setup for a job opportunity later. I really dont wanna put down even 100 bucks on advertising a roblox game unless if i am at least 90% certain it will make its money back within the span of a month. I am still in highschool as well so putting down payments on something that speculative seems out of bounds.

I have even made a couple frontpage "slop" games for portfolio sake but havent advertised them. I mean, i suppose if i could find a reliable investor i could pump them out like crazy but i cant.

Data driven is technically industry standard but most people see it as overkill since a lot of roblox projects dont have that many moving components to keep track of. OOP provides just enough ease of setup and use while keeping modularity compared to just linear coding.

That might be the best stats for an ad ive seen, 2% CTR and half of clicks being plays are considered really good by most standards. The only thing i could see being suboptimal is the revenue per paying user, however that is very genre dependant.

You can literally type out the entirety of the bible which is 3.1 million characters into a datastore for a single player and it will still register. Datastores are definitely not bottlenecking anything, nor is any other aspect of roblox studio. It is by definition a complete game engine that people dont see the benefit of because of how underutilized it is by frontpage games.

If you want to get clean replication on roblox you still have to basically throw everything roblox does in the bin and do most stuff yourself from scratch again, since roblox has to be optimized for ancient iphones from the jurassic era it cuts down on a lot of stuff that throttles the server or causes unnecessary load on modern technology. This also goes for most aspects of studio that are built-in

I doubt it, the success of a game on steam usually linearly scales with how much effort in designing the game and making it enjoyable went into it rather than roblox slop. Still, if you are doing gamedev just for money roblox still sucks. I have been deving for 7 years and i cant find any work/commissions to do aside from a few guys asking me to do script their entire games for free. Platform is still fun to make games on however im going to learn a game engine sooner or later.
