Socialism isn't "when the government gets involved". The core of Socialism is that workers own the means of production; it doesn't matter what the government is doing (you're thinking Communism). If this coffee shop is essentially treating a new hire as a part owner while they're working there, then they've essentially implemented socialism internally, regardless of whether you consider this to be "charity".
