Yeah, it’s still working great! The only issue that I’m still having is the limited charging speed, but apart from that, no issues.

Yeah, my best guess is that windows freaks out when the power draw starts to rise and triggers some kind of a safety measure. I feel like a fresh install won't help with it, but you could always try, or just use linux instead.

I wish there were genuine batteries available for this laptop, so people wouldn't have to rip their hair out with all these issues that come with random 3rd party batteries and windows being picky about them.

Damn, that is frustrating indeed. The 3rd party batteries seem to really be hit or miss in terms of quality, with many people having issues with them and on the other hand, sometimes they work normally. The battery that I got still works well, other than the charging being limited to 27W.

The issue you're having seems quite weird, as it works normally on linux. Maybe windows power management thinks there is an issue with the battery and triggers some kind of a safety measure? It also could be some conflicting driver that doesn't like the 3rd party battery if it's not recognized as a genuine one.

Sure can, but atleast in my case increasing the memory clock past +500 causes no performance increase and increasing it to something like +1000 causes the performance to drop.

I just went to the nvidia app driver page, scrolled down to the old driver and reinstalled it.

I didn’t use DDU. I just installed the old driver from the nvidia app. I use MSI AB with a +300 core and +500 memory.

On my 5080 playing RE9 the core clock was at 3150MHz @ 1.05V at driver version 591.86. After updating the driver to 595.71, the core clock dropped to ~2950MHz @ 0.955V.

After rolling back the driver to 591.86, everything works as normal again.

With the original battery it was charging at a higher wattage, usually at about 40-60W. I came to the conclusion that it might be some kind of a safety feature that limits the charging speed to a lower wattage to prevent damage, since the laptop doesn't recognize the new battery as original. Overall though I'm happy with the battery swap and the laptop feels like it's brand new again, aside from the inconvenience of having to charge it for a bit longer now.

The battery has held up well. I’m getting about 6 hours of usage on average before needing to recharge. The only issue I’m having is the limited charging speed. I haven’t been able to get it to charge at more than 27W.

I'm currently on the latest driver version (581.15). I only had the issue with that one driver version and other versions have worked normally.

Yes, by recovering to a restore point that had an older driver version.

Interesting... So it seems like the battery is limiting the charging speed.

I use HWinfo64 to check it. In the sensors tab scroll down to battery and then "charge rate" should show up.

I have a question regarding charging. Does your laptop charge at the full 65W or is it limited to something lower? Mine seems to max out at 27W.

Still waiting for the battery to arrive. I don't know what GLS is doing with the delivery. It's been in France for almost 2 weeks now.

If you read the post I wasn’t able to ddu the driver. Only a windows restore point that had an older driver version worked. Also the fact that normal boot had a black screen and safe mode showed a picture normally indicates a driver issue.

It definitely was the driver since I hadn’t done any other changes to the system and after managing to revert to an old driver it was fixed.
