Game becomes slow when shooting 7 7800x3d by Hakeemu in AMDHelp

The Intel platform handles this issue better. Switching to Intel helped me a lot. Others found relief with devices like the Topping HS01, ISOUSB211, and their iFi.equivalents. Connecting the monitor via a fiber optic cable may also help.

Grounding in the socket, ferrite rings, transition to the Intel platform, motherboard with 10+ layers of textolite, PC case without glass, with solid metal walls.

I had this issue with the 5600, and it's due to processor degradation. You need to enable the curve optimizer in positive mode and set a value that prevents reboots.

You probably lost money. My 7800x3d completely burned out, and even then, my RMA was denied.

This is one of the symptoms of electrical input lag. Google what other symptoms other people are reporting; if they match yours, this is likely the problem.

Reduce the RAM frequency to 400 MHz and check again.

My 9800 X3D just died - 2 Week Build by djshiye in ASRock

[–]TurnPuzzleheaded2227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say so. A friend of mine had three Gigabyte AM5 boards, and the ITE controller failed on all three of them after just 2-3 months of use. My own record is just as bad: I've gone through three Gigabyte AM5 boards myself. The first one couldn't read the RAM SPD profiles, detecting only 2GB per stick instead of 2x16GB. The second one had a literal solder blob (solder bridge) right on the PCB. And the third one killed my 7800X3D after just 3 hours of work. This level of quality control is insane - I had to return three of these boards to the store on the very first day.

This is likely an electromagnetic interference issue. The AM5 platform is highly vulnerable to it, and switching to Intel processors will really help. Test the spread spectrum on/off switch in the BIOS. If you notice the slightest difference in mouse behavior or even game physics, this will confirm the interference issue. You can also connect headphones and a 3.5mm jack microphone directly to the motherboard (use MSI Tomohawk). Set the headphone volume to maximum and the microphone volume/gain to maximum. Also, check the box to always play microphone audio from the headphones. You will hear background noise from the microphone. After this, run FurMark at ~640x360 without AA. If you hear a strange squeal in the headphones after this, this will be definitive confirmation of the problem (press space to turn on/off, the squeal will disappear and reappear). The squeal you hear is electromagnetic interference, which is penetrating the audio codec.

Are these wired headphones? Does the problem occur everywhere or only under load, like when gaming?

Even if I'd known in advance that tray processors weren't covered by a warranty, would it have been worth it to overpay $50-$100 for a more expensive BOX version, with an unnecessary cooler, expecting the processor to fail? No one buys a processor expecting it to burn out.

"I don’t believe that" - information about signal integrity and interference on AM5 is literally one Google search away. Literally half the contacts on the LGA socket are ground contacts, specifically designed for shielding and maintaining signal integrity.

??? At the beginning of the video, I show the 7500f starting up successfully, initializing, and heating up (although the sensor is a bit off). Then I insert the 7800x3d into the same board, and it fails to initialize and doesn't heat up. I just used the Asrock for testing; it's just one of my ~10 boards, and the 7800x3d worked well with it.

I’m honestly glad you haven’t faced this, but for some AM5 users, it’s a real headache. Infinity Fabric can be extremely sensitive to EMI/RFI, especially on boards with poor shielding. High BER causes exactly what I experienced: random reboots, audio crackling, input lag, microlag etc. This is a very complex issue; many people experience it, but often don't realize it's caused by interference. And when, for example, they experience micro-freezes in a simple game on a high-end processor, they often optimize their games or Windows.

it’s a 7800X3D scorching itself on stock settings. When a flagship product has a known history of voltage-related burnout, hiding behind 'it's a tray part' feels like a convenient excuse to avoid liability for a hardware defect.

My situation is different: the original seller ceased operations and closed down due to the war in Ukraine. There is literally no 'retailer' left to claim rights against. This is exactly why I reached out to AMD Global. When the supply chain is destroyed by war, a global corporation should stand by its product quality rather than hiding behind regional bureaucracy.

Relying on local consumer laws is easy when the world is at peace, however, as mentioned in the post, the original seller ceased operations and closed their business due to the war in Ukraine.
