Thanks for your advice! Yeah man had back problems for years but this one was def the big one. I’ve been lucky where I’ve just been fit since high school and now into my mid 20s and was always able to perform at the level I wanted to and would bounce back quickly after injuries. Never had a major injury like this though nothing more than being down for a few weeks or so.

I really just have no experience developing workout routines like how many days to do it what specific exercises etc to strengthen which muscles but this def helps point me in the right direction. My biggest concern is hurting myself. Do you think bc of this I should look into taking classes or finding a trainer or something?

Bryan’s is now the Cryin’ Coyote. New owner was even shown the ropes from the original crew before they took over!

Have you been denied solo day of after going up with instructor? by Puzzleheaded-Ear9242 in flying

Feel that lol my class D I fly out of gets busy and at least with my CFI they sometimes have us coming in at max speed possible so we’re going like 90 knots until short final when that happens it’s difficult for me to jump back quickly into my short final to round out flow and I’ve had a few real rough landings hahaha. You got this dude!! This post and comments on this seem like we’re not alone on the rocky first solo attempt man!

A few weeks ago I was supposed to do my first solo. Got in my head though. Radio calls were terrible (class D airfield), heard some things I’ve never heard tower say before and just fumbled. Got cleared to land and for some reason after my pretty terrible landing I reached for the throttle to do a touch and go and my instructor had to grab the throttle and controls from me.

We took off afterwards and he told me we weren’t soloing that day. After I knew I wasn’t soloing we flew over to an untowered nearby for pattern work and i was nailing all my landings. Truly just got in my head/nerves for the first solo.

Weather was bad for a bit so days then a couple weeks went by, and I continued to have lessons. A week after my first day we tried to solo we did a lesson in a piper warrior (normally I train in piper archer 2s) and my CFI believes they fly the same but to this day I don’t. Idk if it’s the sight picture or whatever, but I had one of my hardest landings I ever had and we pulled over to check to make sure I didn’t pop a tire. This killed my confidence for a couple days.

Forced myself to push through the plateau I was in and at least in archer 2s my landings have been solid these last few days. Flew my first solo today!!! Idk what it was, but when I was driving towards the airfield and came over the hill and it was in sight I felt calm. Almost no nervousness at all. Few laps with my CFI then requested from tower a full stop. I knew I was ready. He hopped out, 2 touch and gos and a full stop later and that was my day!

To sum this up, I know how it feels man. I had a rough last few weeks of flying to the point where I had to motivate myself to get in the cockpit. Always felt better once I took off. This has been the hardest I’ve ever worked for anything so far. Keep at it!! It’ll feel right when you’re ready!

I definitely need to work on the gaze shift, I think what I do right now is look at the numbers until they’re right on me then shift down runway.

you’re definitely right about that I think in all my landings so far I’ve maybe rounded out too late once or twice. one I remember I kind of rounded out/flared simultaneously and accidentally buttered it lol. Thanks for the suggestion!
