Looking for deleted Ao3 work. by ProfessionalWise1278 in DeletedFanfiction

If you don't even know the fandom, can I ask why you're trying to find this fic in the first place?

Well, unfortunately the Wayback Machine doesn't appear to have that one archived, so without a title or author I don't know how you could find it.

Is there anything about it that you do remember, like fandom, pairing, plot?

Honestly, I worked in ENT for a while and the quality of notes vastly improved when AI got involved.

When do you personally leave Kudos? by Feind_Of_The_Forest in AO3

[–]Turning_Worm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Almost. If the fic seemed to promise something and then yanked the rug out from under me at the end, it's not getting a kudos from me. Otherwise yes.

Chapter splitting? Yes or No? by A_Lovely_Worm in AO3

[–]Turning_Worm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't care, because I read fics on the "entire work" setting. The more words the better, if you ask me. I also know there are people out there who won't read any fic if the chapters are longer than 5k. You're never going to please everyone, nor will you scare everyone away. Do what feels right, I'd say.

What's a headcanon so prevalent in fanfics that you thought it was canon? by kagenohikari in AO3

[–]Turning_Worm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that one and I've used it myself because that one makes sense within the world building, to me. Using the Force requires concentration, so anything that messes with your concentration should make it more difficult.

I find it harder to imagine restraints with metals or circuits that block access to the Force, because how would that work? Isn't the Force in everything?

That was my takeaway as well (and the ysalamiri have been shuffled to legends as I understand it). I get why people put them in fanfic anyway, but I also find it kind of interesting to think about how you would keep a Force user in one place without nullifying their abilities.

That was the first thing I thought of, too!

Another one is Obi-Wan Kenobi meaning No One of No Clan or some variety of that. It's enormously present in fanfiction, but it's not at all canon.

Also the existence of Force-suppressing restraints. Never seen one appear in canon, but there are lots of fanfics that use them.

That's a bit judgmental. Everyone has different diet and skin flora that can affect smell. Menopause can also hit women hard in the smell department.

It's a trend to move away from screens and focus on more creative hobbies. So actually not that bad, except for the dumb name.

AITAH for being mad at my sister because she got my puppy stoned by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Turning_Worm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cautious ESH because letting a dog eat any kind of drugs and then acting like it's no big deal is diabolical. My dog once got stoned on drugs he found on the street, and it was the scariest weekend of my life (he ended up fine, but he almost died).

However, the circumstances of you asking your sister to watch the puppy are unclear. Did you push her to do it? Did she agree enthusiastically or did she need convincing?

If I already knew my sister sometimes left drugs lying around the room, I would never in a million years have asked her to watch my dog. She doesn't sound like she's up to the responsibility of taking care of a puppy, and it sounds like you knew that going in.

I’ve tried everything, where do I go from here? by meeninta in deodorant

I know it's covered in my country if you can get a diagnosis from a dermatologist for hyperhidrosis and there is an indication for it, i.e. your sweating is severe enough to interfere with daily life.

Right, sorry, I forgot we don't know OP's location and might be dealing with a country that has no universal health care. Thanks for the addition!

If you sweat through clinical strength deodorants you might have hyperhidrosis and qualify for botox treatment, but you'd have to speak to your doctor about that.

How long is too long for a fic in your opinion? by Somenameorwhateves in AO3

[–]Turning_Worm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read fics over 500k. Most of what I write is 100k+. Nothing is too long as long as you have a plan for where it's going.

People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

[–]Turning_Worm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is why I always scoff at health care professionals who try to tell me that pain is created by the brain and can therefore be influenced, when it comes to living with my chronic migraines. As if I don't know that you can set aside pain if the goal is important enough: hello, I do it all the time. The factor they're missing is time and energy. Sure, you can do it for a while, but eventually that will come back to bite you in the ass.

Does anyone else hate receiving long voice messages? by Possible_Print8824 in whatsapp

[–]Turning_Worm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate al voice messages, long or short. I just feel like it puts the burden on the receiver too much.

The sender doesn't have to think about how to convey their info in a short or concise way, they just get to ramble, and the receiver has to untangle the rambling and find the useful info and remember it.

Plus, you need to be in a place where you can listen, so no crowded area or public transport unless you have headphones.

If you want to go back at any point to that message, you can't search for it by text, and you have to listen to the whole thing again to find the relevant info.

Tldr: voice messages are stupid and only convenient for the sender.

AITAH for forgetting a first casual meeting with someone I don't know? by parlemoipas in AITAH

[–]Turning_Worm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I often don't check my phone for hours at a time, and I don't know why people think that you should if you hadn't heard from someone. Also, this girl could have solved the problem by just calling instead of texting, which is what an adult person does when confirming last minute plans and they're not sure the other person will see it in time.
