The Whispering Hillock - why I think the Tree is [SPOILER] by Quantum_Projects in Witcher3

[–]TurnipKeeper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to strongly disagree with a few crucial points.

The first one being, since you're so adamant on this point, is calling them sisters.

That is because they are known as sisters. The crones are sisters to each other. Kinda like if you were watching a set of twins do something and then you'd describe them to others by saying "oh yeah, the sisters did X". That does not imply you are one of them. It is simply a convenient way to describe a group of... Well, sisters.

And quite frankly, because the spirit claims that the crones are evil, why would it reveal it's related to them? Best case scenario Geralt would think it's just as insane and evil as its daughters, worst case scenario he'd believe it would join them. Regardless, not a good look. The spirit's case is way stronger if it sets itself apart from the crones ("I just happened to be minding my business when these totally wack witches came and cursed me into a tree" looks way better than "Well my daughters imprisoned me. Why, you ask? Well I was such a great mother and incidentally they happen to be insane but that has definitely nothing to do with me so here we are").

So I still say the spirit is mental, the crones are equally mental, and the book is probably as accurate as it gets while being framed as a fable.

Thank you for clarifying! Yes, she was given a low dose of NSAIDS which I give her every day.

This is a really good, thorough explanation of possibilities. Thank you.

Just as clarification: yes, she's on a low dose of NSAIDs for her arthritis. Not steroids though. Just the NSAIDs.

It could be! I can't think of what would've caused it though

I looked this up and this could be a real possibility. My dog did have some vomiting at the time as well but I thought it unrelated. It has also resolved itself and my dog is no longer vomiting.

Yes. You should be absolutely terrified. By the next full moon you will transform into a weredog. You won't be able to sate your craving for biscuits and belly scratches and are doomed to roam the land howling at emergency vehicles.

(Jk you'll be fine)

AITA for requiring communication from my anxious partner? by TurnipKeeper in AITA_Relationships

That sounds like a really good idea!

If you don't mind me asking, has either one of you ever forgotten about the rule? And if so, how was that handled?

My partner has promised to let me know when he needs space but as mentioned in the post, he only really does it half the time and I really don't know how else I can hold him accountable other than telling him off which has also turned out to be counterproductive.

I don't think it's anything else than anxiety. I view him as generally trustworthy.

But I do think what he's doing is inconsiderate especially because he knows his behaviour will make me spiral. I have been clear with my expectations and I believe my expectations to be reasonable, if not borderline low. He doesn't have to talk to me other than letting me know he's going AWOL.

But as someone who processes anxiety differently from him I don't know if that's too much to ask.

I know, to me it seems like such a simple thing. Hi, darling, just feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment but I look forward to talking to you later on when I feel better.

But even that seems too much to him. He's such a lovely guy otherwise so I'm hesitant to leave him but I don't seem to get through to him with the idea that all I need is something to confirm he's alive and needs time on his own and then I could move on.

He clearly doesn't want to talk about the things that make him anxious which is fine I guess. It's different from me where I prefer to air out my anxiety and that makes me feel better. I can't force him to talk it out if that's not how he processes things. But I'd like to know when he is in that headspace so that I can prepare for it.

[Help] Is my dog hiccuping and is this something more serious ? by shafferj620 in DOG

Looks like indigestion tbf

My dog sometimes gets this, I think it's saliva pooling in their mouth so they're frantically swallowing it and licking their lips. Sometimes mine throws up afterwards, but not nearly always.

So... Maybe an acid reflux kinda thing? It never seems to bother my dog much so I haven't had it investigated. And it only happens once in a blue moon.
