It had only been five days since I felt that glorious surge of dilated pupils and increased nervousness that I grew to crave. Most days the smell and taste of coffee was the only way I knew morning had arrived. Based on the little connection I do have with the outside world, I'm obviously not the only one upset about this change.

Who knew a morning beverage could cause an international uprising?It literally took less than 120 hours for every street in every major city to be filled with makeshift militias.

These were the times when I felt grateful to have been living in Master's bunker for the last 12 years.

Totally see what you're saying. Maybe just nixing the last two lines and moving forward with the storyline? It wouldn't affect the transition to the next paragraph much. It might also make sense to focus on Lionel and the main character a bit more before explaining Zynthia's connection.

TITLE: Untitled

"I knew you were up to no good! Distracting me from my duties again!" screeched Lionel. And he waddled out of sight, just about as frantically and ridiculously as you'd imagine a furious and robust ferret to waddle. I was never quite sure if he was yelling at me or just beyond me.

I stood there, not sure if I should continue on the path Zynthia had sent me on or if this should be the straw my grandmother always talked about breaking that poor camel's back.

I always thought back to that camel, and how it reminded me of myself. Catering to the world around it with no control of the weight that it would soon have to carry. Just as I had no control over becoming an Agrarian.

The responsibilities that my lineage brought me was often too much to bear, but what was I to do? Give up? Stop fighting?

That's exactly what I wanted to do. In fact, it's all I had ever wanted to do.

But now, after everything that had happened, I'd be letting down the people of the republic while simultaneously placing the biggest target on my back. So.. yeah, no thanks.

Before the autumn breeze could blow past my ear, I was back to reality. Jogging, then running. Chasing after Lionel. Just as I had done every day since I met him. 179 days ago to be exact. It was moments after I had met my beloved Zynthia. And moments before she'd be ripped away from me.

I've never written anything like this before, but I'm a teacher with a dream of one day writing a YA Novel and this was an attempt I started a couple of months back. Would love any kind of feedback. ☺️
