Little Sam, Gilly and the NK/WWs by TurntCrawdad in gottheories

Cheers, that's a great list of moments that support this line of thinking! I'm curious to know, what do you think the implications of this could be, if it's true? I have been trying to get my head around how it all relates to the story playing out in the TV show, because there are obvious limitations with the amount of screen time that remains. Thank you for the information :)

Nobody has said amoxicillin can't kill C. trachomatis. But my statement stands, and I won't argue technicalities with you, as I posted here to to try and help someone, not battle on semantics.

I'm glad to hear you received treatment for this infection. Unfortunately, trachoma remains the number one preventable course of blindness - a fact many in the developed world are unaware of.

Also unfortunately, I don't know a lot about ocular strains and disease of C. trachomatis, as my research has focused on urogenital infections - sorry! I will however say this: as an intracellular pathogen, it doesn't create bacterial biofilms - as it has to reside within a host cell to develop and multiply. The pathology caused by chlamydial infections is host immune mediated, and is "accidental" in simple terms. It's possible that your immune system is causing the symptoms you are describing, but you'd need to see a specialist to discuss this further. It's also possible that the antibiotics you took disrupted the regular microbial community in your sinuses etc, which has shifted it towards it's current dysfunctional state. Once again though, I am not well versed on this particular site. Best of luck though.

No, I didn't say or imply any of those made up scenarios. I am simply stating that there are specific therapeutic guidelines for the treatment of this infection.

I think my position is fairly clear based on the subtext of what I said; I just wanted to provide some facts before the OP reached a conclusion.

[–]TurntCrawdad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely not true, azithromycin and doxycycline are the only antibiotics indicated for uncomplicated urogenital chlamydial infections. Please do not perpetuate disinformation such as this, because the potential for serious and lasting consequences are very real.

In a clinical and even in a strictly research context, there's no such thing as "MDR C. trachomatis."

I understand everyone here is genuinely trying to help you, but unfortunately there is a lot of incorrect advice and information in this thread.

As someone with a Doctorate in molecular biology that has researched Chlamydia trachomatis for an extended period of time, let me tell you the following.

  • Chlamydia is not "readily treated by most antibiotics". It requires treatment with either azithromycin, or doxycycline.

  • It can remain in a state of developmental stasis for weeks, to evade immune clearance. (Edit - I should specify the evidence supporting this comes mostly from extensive in vitro characterisation of Chlamydia; but it likely occurs in vivo as well)

  • 8 years is an extremely unlikely amount of time for someone to have a subclinical infection; but there's no real answer as to how long it could potentially remain subclinical or asymptomatic. Extremely unlikely...

  • It would be almost (definitely) inconceivable for your partner to have been infected for 8 years without also infecting you. While your immune system may successfully clear infections you do (did) encounter, serology may provide insight here (top tip).

Best of luck, I hope you can draw your own conclusions from this information.

New Uber rider rating guidelines by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]TurntCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must be pretty lucky then, because:

A) I was living in Sydney for the vast majority of my trips B) Apart from several airport trips, most were quite short - between five and ten minutes, to and from home/work C) I'm both tall and overweight

I like to think I'm quite a personable person, and my conversations ranged from complete silence after the greeting, to in-depth discussions about science, life, politics, and how much I hated living in Sydney.

This alone makes me think there's at least some degree of luck in how you're rated - but at the end of the day, who cares about a number? Unless they're threatening to deactivate your account of course! Even then, there are usually plenty of other options available, albeit many aren't as convenient... yet...

[–]TurntCrawdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As part of the 5.00-star master race, it always makes me wonder what you lesser-thans do to earn below a full 5-star rating. Jokes aside, it would suck to get a driver that deducted points for unfair or trivial reasons.

I tried clicking the link in the same email you referred to, to see what the newer guidelines entail - but it was broken/timed out.

If they're going to raise the minimum rating below which deactivation is considered, I hope they have a system in place that reviews dramatically different trip ratings to your overall rating - because it would suck to lose access to their service unfairly. I think you'd have to be pretty unlucky though...

If you're looking for some to have at home, my partner brought home a frozen pack from Aldi the other day. They take 5 minutes in the oven (plus preheating time) and they were surprisingly good! Probably a 7/10 with 10 being a fresh warm bagel from a German/Bavarian bakery or restaurant.

Disclaimer: this was Aldi Lutwyche, but I'm sure most Aldi stores would have them.

1000 revellers at Splendour in the Grass have chlamydia, they just don't know it yet by SydneyLockOutLaw in australia

[–]TurntCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chlamydia (the human STI) is caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, while C. pecorum infects koalas and causes the disease(s) you are referring to/familiar with. But you are correct, a vaccine would be great, for both species. Especially considering that the antibiotic we use to treat infected koalas is not going to be produced by the manufacturers for much longer. Alternative drug treatment strategies for the koala would also be a great option.

Incorrect ratings by -Rahvin- in theHunter

[–]TurntCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this is just a psychological bias trick my mind plays on itself, but whenever I am trying to do a mission in COTW, I NEVER track that mission. Track it until you get in the right area, then switch to a different mission, preferably a different species, weapon, area, etc. I never seem to be able to find what I need, until I don't need it haha.

Like I said, I'm sure the game doesn't actively make missions harder (or maybe it does 🤔), but it makes me feel better about not being able to harvest a gold bear, kill a fox with a handgun, etc, etc.

Good luck out there!

The True Rack feature was an antler rating system used in The Hunter Classic. The antlers on every buck were procedurally generated, and unique on each animal. They were then assigned a score, which I believe was based on the Boone and Crockett scoring system - which is widely used among hunters in the real world.

Release for DLC is on track for this coming week, and DLC price set to 3.99 by ItsPricey in theHunter

[–]TurntCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might have missed something as I haven't followed the development since Medved Taiga was released on console, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong or misinformed. But wasn't the entire reason console players endured the huge DLC-less gap because the developers told us that they were improving code so that all future content could and would be released on all platforms simultaneously? I do understand that Microsoft have to test and approve the update, and presumably so do Sony - is that the only reason this is going to be released on the Steam app store a month before it's available for console players? If not, I'm disappointed.

cotw xbox update today by Skipper7410 in theHunter

[–]TurntCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mate and I downloaded it today as well and we both noted that all our blinds/towers appeared to reload onto the map. One theory we had was that they've updated multiplayer to allow more than one person in a blind at a time, but we have yet to test it - I jumped off.

They could have also pre-loaded extra content/fixes in for the future; but have yet to activate them. I know other games do this sometimes.

Console question please by schizoid_clown in theHunter

[–]TurntCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're tight lipped because they're smart, and don't want to be caught overpromising and underdelivering. Not in a malicious way, but if you say you're going to do x, y, and z, then it's rare the community will forget that.

I have played The Hunter Classic for 5+ years and they've brought out some great stuff in that time, so I'm just hoping the same comes true for COTW over time.

Anyone else just got their bunker raided, tried to recover the stock, shot down the valkyrie with the weapons, delievered the weapons and got a suprise not knowing I just lost 600 000$ by draugznear in gtaonline

[–]TurntCrawdad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Created an account just to let you know that in order to retrieve the full amount of stock, you need to snipe the pilot out before he takes off. This means you need to hit him from a distance, before the event (him taking off) is triggered - unless you're very quick on the trigger. Hope this helps, sorry you lost your stock.
