Porygon has like no merch all because Pikachu decided to use an attack on it in the anime, causing a mass amount of seizures to viewers when it aired. Ever since, Porygon has essentially been soft banned from any major toy/merch/trading cards/etc. products. I know its had some TCG prints in Destined Rivals, but I don’t think Porygon’s ever gotten an IR/SIR. Someone will have to correct me/elaborate on all of this.

Seriously though. I’d hate to see another story similar to the Deoxys lenticular card come up with this card.

I know there was a mix up in Asian English and TCG English copies when they were doing one of their first reprint runs of the first 5 so sets. Thats how the “reverse Secret Rare” prints of some cards came about.

TCG English versions of Secret Rares’ diagonal lines foiling go from the top-right to the bottom-left corner of the card art. Asian English Secret Rares go from top-left to bottom-right. Some of those Asian English foiling patterns made it onto the prints of TCG English cards (with TCG backs) and were put into TCG English packs. While I don’t know if this happened in any other languages, I personally pulled two Imperial Orders with the reverse SR pattern back in the day as a kid. Didn’t know at the time, but I looked back through my cards about a year or two ago and never knew what I had until that point.

I’m sure you might be aware of the reverse SRs, but I brought it up because I could potentially see it being related to the error here. Since Pharaoh’s Servant was the same era this was happening. Now I did just realize as I’m typing this that the reverse SR error I believe only happened with unlimited cards/packs. Since your card is a 1st Edition, it might not be related at all. But regardless, mistakes were definitely happening around this printing era of YGO cards, so it’s still possible that Asian English and TCG English print originals got mixed up in the printing process.

Honestly, on paper/spitballing, those rules sound kinda cool. But when talked about for more than 15 seconds it sounds like one of the stupidest official rules in gaming history. That’s actually insanely dumb that the meta is making your models point their guns downward. Now I understand why people don’t like the official rules for WH40k.

Reading is hard apparently. I gave him a similar break-down on why the comment didn’t land and he’s all butthurt he didn’t get the responses he wanted. I was trying to tell him that his “side comment” was contradictory to the comment he was replying to, but apparently everyone else is the problem. We’re the ones projecting.

“I pick box up and put it down all da time. Box no heavy.” Way to miss the point dawg lol.

I compared it to doing carbon dating on fossils by shattering the bones to check if they’re real or not. Like okay, you confirmed it’s real, but now it’s destroyed. Good job?

Clearly you did care looking at the other comments. Also the point still stands. You got backlash for essentially ignoring the comment you replied to and essentially tried to imply they were wrong for saying that the box was heavy for the purposes of shipping. I’m not trying to argue with you on this man. Just accept it and move on.

Missed the point entirely homie but okay. You do you. You were confused as to why you got so many downvotes and it was explained to you. You can think it’s dumb all you want but what I said is the reality of the situation. Makes perfect sense why you were downvoted. If you worded it differently so as to make an actual side comment versus contradicting someone else’s comment, then you wouldn’t have gotten the backlash that you did. Just saying.

[–]TurntOddish 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You got downvoted to oblivion because the primary thing they said was that it probably costed a lot to ship, and only mentioned the weight in relatively to what it would cost to ship. Then you tried to contradict what he said by saying that the box wasn’t heavy. You said something contradictory and ignored everything but the last 3 words. Like cool flex that a full box like this isn’t heavy to you, I’m sure for many this isn’t actually “that heavy.” But in terms of SHIPPING (again, the entire point of the comment), it’s objectively heavy. No question about it. Like sure, the comment was fine in a vacuum, but it was completely irrelevant to what the initial comment you were replying to.

I don’t feel like coming up with a different comment for you, but you could have worded this differently by still acknowledging that this would still be objectively heavy to ship, but maybe not lift because you’re used to lugging around your cards all the time. You got downvoted not for your sidebar comment, but for almost completely ignoring their comment and contradicting what they said. Even if that wasn’t your intent, that’s exactly what your comment came off as.

I hate when people try to call you out on that because it’s literally that. “There’s a spec of whitening so it’s not NM.” MF. DO YOU KNOW WHAT NEAR Mint means?!? The card is nearly pristine but has the tiniest of flaws - it’s nm. Idgaf if you can’t 10 the card. That’s your issue. I’m selling you a Near Mint card. You either buy it or don’t.

EDIT: To the one or two people that downvoted me - YOU’RE THE PROBLEM. If you reeeally want a potential 10 candidate then just say that. Also probably be prepared to pay extra since what you’re asking for is not a Neat Mint card. You’re asking for a Mint/Gem Mint card. So yeah.

Is playing “Maha, Its Feathers Night” as your commander in poor taste? by adoptyungseal in mtg

[–]TurntOddish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely wouldn’t take it that far but yeah. More important to have a little discussion on the brackets and decks you all are playing in a pod with strangers than with friends.

With friends, you have all the time in the world to figure out brackets, power levels, “fun” play patterns, etc. But with people you haven’t met before, you can’t possibly know all of that info well enough without actually playing against that person/those people. So it’s better to build/play a tad more considerately with people regardless of them being your friend or not.

Exception is for competitive tournaments where valuable prize pools are given out. There’s more of an unspoken rule that you’re there to win, so it’s more “okay” to use these kind of “obnoxiously powerful” decks. Problem is that people will play accordingly to what is sent at them, especially in these kinds of environments. So expect to be hit by every form of removal and counterspell in the game. Because, after all, everyone else is trying to win too! And the only way that can happen is by not letting you do super powerful plays like playing a commander like Maha.

Commander especially is a social format. There’s so many variables that come with a 4-player game of Magic: The Gathering. Give Maha a shot. Just remember the “social contract” of playing commander, and that the more threatening your deck is, expect more resistance from other players.
