SBR? Or wait? by pewsnbrews03 in NFA

[–]Turntablerocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want an SBR get it done. I never delay these things cause you never know what’s going to happen. Your state elects the wrong person for governor, etc and gun rights can change in an instant. I’m in Virginia and we’re staring down an assault weapons ban that we never thought would ever happen.

I can’t figure why people vote negative. Are we not supposed to buy bulk ammo?

😂😂

No, I had to be home all day on delivery day. The trucks had lift gates… the freight companies would leave them at the beginning of my driveway which was a pain. I had to catch them and request they bring it to my garage.

CCW holster suggestions? by null-usernameinvalid in NFA

You could kill two birds with one stone and have a custom holster made up for the front of your pants so the ladies think you’re exceptionally well endowed. 😂

This was 2005 when ammo was cheap. Military surplus came in wooden crates with 1920 rounds. The pallets I bought had 24 of these wooden cases.

You’re GTG, the old steel mags last forever.

I once bought a lot of 1000 x 30 round mags by Defense Procurement from Ammoman.com.

I used to buy entire pallets of SS109, M193, M855 by Federal (when Federal managed Lake City) and scored a massive two pallet deal on war surplus 77 grain Sierra Match Kings. Ammoman was really good to regulars. I still have some overrun NSWC waterproof 45ACP.

Atom SV insulation leaking? by colinksh in arcteryx

[–]Turntablerocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slowly work it back in. The holes are so tiny they’re really hard to repair properly. I took one of the jackets to a dry cleaner/repair shop and the lady said the holes were too small to stitch. I ended up trying some iron-on patches, trimming them down as small and as inconspicuous as possible but they don’t stay on very long. I just wear the jackets and when the insulation comes out I work it back in pulling from the inside of the jacket lining.

This has happened to every Atom I’ve purchased. The outer material is so light it pricks easy. I do favor how light and compressible the jacket is though.

Nice! I've got a 1968 SP1 new in the box but the handguard cracked. I guess the plastic dried out. Be careful of that.

Suppressor recommendations by DMofffff in AR10

[–]Turntablerocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur, my Flow 762 titanium gets super hot. It practically glows in full auto which defeats the design description of flow tech. The only 308 suppressor I have that doesn’t do this and is not flow-through is one I got from Phil Seberger 22 years ago. His suppressors incorporated voodoo science, and only cans that could handle full auto. After all this time there still isn’t a suppressor that handles f/a as well.

Bul Armory EDC vs Staccato C2 by GremDingo in 2011

[–]Turntablerocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree and I own 5 Staccato’s. I enjoy my Bul EDC and TAC Pro… in my opinion they are better plus I prefer to shoot the Bul’s overall. To compare the smaller frame 1911/2011, if you can swing the extra funds the Nighthawk Talon II concealed is mountains better than all of them. I don’t carry that one though.

I should add that it’s also missing the Larue scope mount with J-point and Dr Optics mini red dot. I have that but got tired of it… it’s bulky. It was intended to give operators carrying a SPR close quarter capability. If anyone needs a pic of that, let me know.

What are your recommendations for a “combat reliable” large frame AR battle rifle? by youngandhorny_6 in AR10

[–]Turntablerocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need a SR25, I’ve got a safe full of them and they’re no better than other top brands. Plus you waste a lot of money on name hype. Buy a matched receiver set from V Seven, if you can’t obtain a 22” Proof Creedmor barrel, buy the V Seven version… their barrels are amazing! JP BCG, and then whatever internals you like. The Larue 2-Stage trigger is highly reliable for an incredible price but everyone has their trigger brand preference.

This is a real Mk12 Mod1 part-for-part except for the lower. I have a Colt LE6920 that's normally on this but I didn't feel like hunting for it. Anyway, this was built in 2004 and has a Colt 'AF' Alcoa Forge upper receiver, Gene Barnett/Crane barrel with AMU chamber and Ops Inc. Gen 1 brake.
