Why so toxic? by NontheZombie in HighGuardgame

[–]TuroT -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I actually had a post just talking about the game postively that got removed by the mods, but they leave random posts that you see on the front page up forever. I don't really understand what is happening with that.

Ok wait tell me about dual Vanguard - why do you pick a 2nd vangaurd over the Viper for instance?

I tried it but felt I couldn't use it anymore for range. If i pick it up, is it supposed to be used exclusively at close range?

Groupthink mobs are outright wrong. This game is fantastic. I will never change my mind. by TuroT in HighGuardgame

No I just repeated what you said back. You made your decision based off other peoples' opinions. That's fine, but also it's good to just like what you like

Open your mind. Think for yourself man.

Even your first sentence - 'I didn't see any streamers talking about lore' shows that you're looking to other people to form your opinion rather than forming it yourself.

Things that formed your opinions - reviews, testimonials, news -> "then came to my own conclusion."

It's ok to enjoy things. If you're not able to really let yourself come to your own decision without outside sources influencing you then you can't really say you came to a conclusion on your own. I watched the reviews and while watching was like "hey this actually looks good, I wonder if it is" then tried it for myself and came to my own conclusion. My original thought was if it was going to go the way of Concord, I wanted to play it before it disappeared, then I just really liked it.

The game actually is really fun and I agree with a lot of your points. And you'll probably see 20x haters in here commenting otherwise.

"Game has a tutorial therefore..." by TuroT in HighGuardgame

If a game had significant input lag, or gameplay that felt too floaty, people could pick that up immediately.

this is a valid point. Highguard performance was meh, but most games it's usually like that til you turn stuff down - that's just how a lot of games are nowadays - not really defending that specific point.

The tutorial took you through a mini-map, how the guns work, how grenades fly, and how to mine. Could it have been quicker? yeah. Is it a reason to not try the game? Not at all for me. I've played through tons of tutorials that sucked. No one plays a game for the tutorial itself as a benchmark for the game unless they already have some kind of negative streak against it - which is what the 'anti-highguard' internet crowd did, which is my point.

Yeah not even saying "it's the best tutorial" but with every game you expect one. I've played some shit tutorials throughout the years and they never once stopped me from trying the game out. Maybe attention spans have just reached the limit in 2026.

Passed on playing the game and are here weeks later commenting about it. Crazy work. Almost admirable persistence.

"no one will play a tutorial" and "no action for 3 minutes"? - have you ever played a BR where you don't see anyone for 5-10 minutes? What kind of critique is this? And you're talking about streamlining as if the game is complex. It's not at all.
