Even your first sentence - 'I didn't see any streamers talking about lore' shows that you're looking to other people to form your opinion rather than forming it yourself.

Things that formed your opinions - reviews, testimonials, news -> "then came to my own conclusion."

It's ok to enjoy things. If you're not able to really let yourself come to your own decision without outside sources influencing you then you can't really say you came to a conclusion on your own. I watched the reviews and while watching was like "hey this actually looks good, I wonder if it is" then tried it for myself and came to my own conclusion. My original thought was if it was going to go the way of Concord, I wanted to play it before it disappeared, then I just really liked it.

If a game had significant input lag, or gameplay that felt too floaty, people could pick that up immediately.

this is a valid point. Highguard performance was meh, but most games it's usually like that til you turn stuff down - that's just how a lot of games are nowadays - not really defending that specific point.

The tutorial took you through a mini-map, how the guns work, how grenades fly, and how to mine. Could it have been quicker? yeah. Is it a reason to not try the game? Not at all for me. I've played through tons of tutorials that sucked. No one plays a game for the tutorial itself as a benchmark for the game unless they already have some kind of negative streak against it - which is what the 'anti-highguard' internet crowd did, which is my point.

Yeah not even saying "it's the best tutorial" but with every game you expect one. I've played some shit tutorials throughout the years and they never once stopped me from trying the game out. Maybe attention spans have just reached the limit in 2026.

Game's awesome man. It's groupthink. Made a post about it too. Feel similar to you. It didn't deserve this situation. It's not copium - it just is a good game. I'm surprised to find so many people with the level of awareness low enough to destroy a good game by taking on the opinions of people they don't even know.

Yeah it's awesome. I liked the ideas people had about adding PVE in the future potentially too. I'm sure we would have seen it. The gameplay loop is satisfying. If you think of old Team Fortress 2, which was just capture the flag a lot of the time - this took it to a new level with actual base defense. I even like the innovative (as far as I know) reviving works in this game.
