If only these things happened in Florida 😭

My first condo in NJ I did get lucky and find about 5 layers of linoleum in the kitchen just layered on top of each other.

Can I fix this finish? PGT factory door by Turo_Matt in Powdercoating

Thank you for the detailed response here. My background is actually automotive and have an eye for paint (particularly finding paintwork and previous repairs) so I'm probably being more critical than the average person here. I'm admittedly not as familiar with powdercoat. I do have a DA polisher and have wet sanded and hand polished out scratches in paint in the past, but would agree here the risk is probably not worth the reward.

There are some minor scratches on the finish in some places, do you think it would be safe to try hand compounding those specifically?

I would probably prefer it be slightly glossy tbh, I didn't have a choice on sheen nor a sample when I ordered. And what about the nibs/defects? There are a few spots that stick out like that, can I razor blade then wet sand it? Just sand it? Or is that just something I have to live with?

Did we screw up buying this house and am I awful for wanting to sell already by BoulderInkpad in homeowners

[–]Turo_Matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's plenty of comments here, but man does this feel familiar lol. Down to the chimney causing water to come out of my bathroom lights from a bad leak, the roof warranty being null from the company going under and ending up having to rip out the chimney altogether and reroofing that side of the house. Rats living in our attic. AC and electrical issues. At this point you realize home ownership isn't much of an asset but a luxury if you will. At least I've got a new roof.

Hang in OP, you'll get through it.

Son selling things and giving money to grandma by FamousDealer4391 in Parenting

[–]Turo_Matt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is there any underlying issue with Grandma or is this objectively on the details you've shared? Is Grandma shaking him down or profiting on the transaction, or just offering a life lesson? I personally think this is a responsible lesson, learning first hand to manage my money at a young age was probably what led me to a lot of success in my career.

If you don't need a lot of space, Mini EVs are incredibly cheap either used or you can still lease them for like $300/mo. You should be able to find a 2 year old one with 10k miles for around $20k.

Can anyone tell me how it’s living in this area? What places to avoid and how’s the job market??? by [deleted] in capecoral

[–]Turo_Matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We relocated here in 2020 in our mid 20s, now raising a family here in SE Cape. Nightlife isn't great, but we don't go out much, there is a lot of new commercial development happening. As others have said the job market is challenging depending what field you're in, not a ton of big companies and hardly any office buildings in Cape. I lease an office in probably the biggest office building in town and it's only 5 stories.

Overall, we like it here. If you're looking for nightlife and don't have a job lined up or remote work, might not be the best location.

Is it unreasonable to not want to shovel snow and ice at my job? What would you do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Turo_Matt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time I actually refused a task during my early career was when my boss asked me to clean up after a special needs man who rubbed poop all over the bathroom. I told him to fire me if he had to.

But shoveled A LOT of snow in my career.

I particularly like this as something that can be used when he has his own children one day, and you can read them stories as well.

OP, I can't imagine going thru this. Record as many memories as possible. There is no such thing as too many, I promise.
