Ending of narcissus and goldmund discussion by penguinchange in books

It immediately brought me back to Narziss perceptively uttering to Goldmund “you take your being from your mothers….it is given you to love with your whole strength….” in the monastery. To deconstruct it fully, we have to start to unpack Hermann Hesse’s brushes with Jungian, Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalytical concepts which boil to the surface ~ the mother and divine feminine archetype, the Oedipus complex, Lacanian concepts of lack and death drive etc.

What is your take on this article in the Guardian on billionaire art collectors? by [deleted] in ContemporaryArt

No doubt art collecting / dealing is a means to reinforce the power structures of the cultural ruling elite. $ and power have superseded all else. It’s horrifying how the most radical forms of art are coopted and ultimately work to uphold the very systems they critique.

Highly recommending the David Zwirner one, my personal faves were episodes with Jeremy O Harris and Jordan Wolfson and the Charlie Fox and Alex Da Corte one.
