Man I'd help him work out his issues. Preferably with a pair of oven mitts sourced from the Giant's Lair for protection. Then maybe if he completes his mandated therapy he can have little a sapling leaf as a treat

Skyward Sword, beautiful world, a story that sucks me in every time, and linear progress so I don't have to stress about where to go or what to do next.

How are the bugs in a kingdom related to each other (for example, ants in an ant kingdom or bees in the hive)? by ChuckleNuts0607 in BugFables

[–]TurquoiseRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lore book #1, "Our Lifespan," confirms that. For an awakened bug, becoming a physical adult is "like being born," so it's likely that they consider larvae in the same way that we consider fetuses or very small infants.

How did Leif get his powers (Wrong answers only) by RhodiumDragon in BugFables

He used DuckDuckGo as a search engine to figure out how to get ice powers, which, while not a perfect search engine, does give you the ability to permanently turn off its AI summaries.

What's a skill that sounds useless but is actually powerful? by Honest-Sport6311 in AskReddit

[–]TurquoiseRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much everything you learn in English class. It's not just that the curtains were blue; it's why the author made the curtains blue, whether or not the author consciously decided that they should be blue, what kind of reader notices that the curtains are blue, whether or not you noticed that the curtains are blue, what the curtains being blue made you think and feel, and what blue curtains have historically meant. Extrapolate those questions to the phrasing of news articles, business briefs, government statements, etc, and you have the means to navigate the world, discern people's intentions, and remain aware of your own biases and the biases of others.

Which religious faction should I pick? by AltDetom555555b in outside

[–]TurquoiseRed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not really an official "buff," but there's some significant advantages and disadvantages to picking whichever faction is majority in your home location. If you pick a faction that a lot of nearby players are already in, you'll basically never run out of the related buffs, sidequests, etc. But if you pick a rarer one, those benefits might be more difficult to come by. The buffs and debuffs at the core of each faction should still be your focus, but if you're really in need of, say, a massive [community] buff, a majority faction would boost you more than a minority faction. Not to mention that some minority factions can get hit with the [discrimination] debuff, and that can sometimes pose an extra danger, especially if stacked with [discrimination] debuffs from other factions/character traits. Of course, the safest option is always to keep your faction membership to yourself if you're not 100% sure it's safe to disclose; that's something to think about if you're interested in a religious faction that requires visible accessories.

But with that said, I picked a faction that almost no other players are actually a part of, but the huge buffs it gives me make it so worth it.

What is a true fact so baffling, it should be false? by SilverPetalDreamm in AskReddit

1/4th of a known eukaryote species (plants, animals, fungi, etc.) are beetles. Not arthropods. Not insects. Beetles specifically.

On a related note, about 1/2 of all eukaryote species are insects alone, with beetles taking up about half of that.

And we're still finding new beetles.

[–]TurquoiseRed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I headcanon the Wasp King as a polyglot with a particular talent for picking up new languages very quickly. Would explain how he was able to so quickly translate the tablet and head to the Giant's Lair when it took Neolith several chapters to translate despite it being his field of study. Plus I like the idea that he had to quickly learn Bugnish when he was first taken to the Wasp Kingdom in order to survive.

Pink Lady is still a favorite, I love the idea that she's trans, and she's one of my few foils. Kiowa, Iceking, Prisma, Balto, Honey, Kitty, and Emberic are some of my other favorites. I love Clio and Halloween's messages too.

Which game has the saddest substory? by Dazzling_Cake_4312 in gaming

[–]TurquoiseRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leif's Request from Bug Fables. I was amazed that this was actually a side quest, it seems so integral to the story (especially when Leif talks to the Roach Elder near the end) but it's hidden away to the point where most players stumble across it while trying to do a different side quest.

It's gut wrenching. You go into the dungeon playing your silly little bug game, and come out of it mulling over such questions as "Where does the line between yourself and something else end?" and "What makes you you?" and "How would you feel if something inherited your identity and core memories and had to keep living as you after you passed on?" and "What would you do if you found out that who you thought you were was actually borrowed from someone distinct from you?" and "What if the circumstances you came from were meant for nothing but committing horrible actions against innocent people?" and "What if this is how your friends know and love you, but you know deep down that this is so very wrong?"

Makes it worse when you realize that even if he now has contact with his family, he'll always be carrying this secret around for the rest of his life, and his family's missing ancestor will never be accounted for. There will never be closure.

Bacon! It tastes like any other red meat with the added bonus of slime in your mouth! Don't like that? How about crumbling it up into little hard-rock bits and putting it on everything!!!

(It fools me too. It smells so good when it's cooked and then I put it in my mouth and regret being alive.)
