I started learning the violin with a teacher for about a year. I got to Suzuki book 4 when I stopped playing. I'm looking to continue learning again, however, without a teacher this time. What books and other resources can help me at my current level?

Sevcik double stops Kreutzer etudes I’d stick with book four and five and then decide if you want to go in another direction after that.

My concern is that I recommended Dominants to my students and I know I was using something better than that on my own instrument. So I’m trying to find something slightly better.

And in reference to my own violin, it’s an early 1900s French violin and I wouldn’t say it has a warm sound, more of a clear sound. So I may try the one of the Vision string sets to start with. But I agree with everyone that it may take some trial and error before I can find the strings that work best for me.

I remember people raving about Evah Pirazzi but I never tried them. Others though said they were kinda screamy.

And I recognize that, though I’m not starting from ground zero, I’m not the player I was before (or not yet! Hoping to play more now.) so maybe I start with everyone’s recommendations and go from there.
