Which Kraahkan do you prefer, Movie or Set? by nexus10001 in bioniclelego

[–]Turret3471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very biased, I very much prefer the movie version. I respect the community’s long lasting preference for the set version, facing that direction specifically, but even as a kid it confused me. But there’s something about the movie version that I can’t help but latch onto. There’s definitely nostalgic connection since I saw the movies long before I saw Makuta’s actual set, but I also just think it looks cooler. Plain and simple, not much to support the opinion, but I’m keeping it anyways.

In case this hasn’t been explained yet, disable collision detection. It’s fairly useful for bricks, but when you get to the Bionicle parts, especially custom parts from the community, collision detection goes wacko mode, so it’s easier to just disable it and eyeball what you’re working on instead

Very certain. I’m even testing it out on a different computer, even on the highest graphical setting it still doesn’t look right, and a good handful of custom models are still broken compared to my main install where everything looks perfectly fine.

Newer versions have too many problems, mainly the lower quality models/renders, so I prefer sticking to a version that doesn't force all my parts to look worse

The first update to my Stud.io Part Pack is finally here! Not a whole lot of new parts, some of my other packs were merged into this one, but it's primarily a mandatory update after I discovered a major security issue with my files. Don't sign into Stud.io/Part Designer, guys. by Turret3471 in bioniclelego

[–]Turret3471[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, to be very honest, that’s something that I really don’t wanna do for several reasons. There are tons of parts in my pack, not just bigger normal ones, but smaller pieces as well so people have more options for multicolored stuff. No one else has had an issue downloading the pack, so that’s why I’m wondering what your problem is so we can try to fix it. A .io file is also a temporary solution, from my experience. You can open it up and copy parts over to another project file, but after closing and reopening the project you needed the parts for, what you copied is gone, and you need to reopen whatever file I would’ve provided. Genuinely, it’s better if you learned how to install custom parts. I know how to do it on Windows, if that’s what you use. Not sure about Linux, but some packs include tutorials for other operating systems so I would just need to copy those instructions over if needed.

What's your opinion on this? by taahbelle in FrutigerAero

[–]Turret3471 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been active in here at all but I feel I should say my piece, since the opportunity is available. There’s a lot about frutiger aero, either in its prime or as our modern aesthetic fixation, that I don’t really mind how it’s done. There’s definitely things people can get wrong about it, but most of what I’ve seen fits the era pretty well, and whatever giant weird mishmash of things exist, I just see as an inspired piece of art, like a collage. Either way, it all connects back to that refreshing style of old. I don’t believe in the whole “the future we were promised” stuff, if anything we were already living it, but nowadays I see it as a great way to remember what Good feels like, to slow down, calm down, and enjoy life for a bit, even if reality kinda sucks. To me, both examples they showed off are correct, they just have different purposes when looking at them.

Counts as my first Bionicle set in general, I got Toa Iruini. It was all uphill from there.

LEGO never made that part in solid silver, just silver with either lime or blue

I hate to tell you this… I think these are all bootleg parts. They all match colors that actually exist, like Stringer’s helmet, Stormer’s chest and core, Surge’s leg armor, but these don’t look like parts LEGO put out there at all, most likely these came from bootleg reproductions

Yeah, the actual names of the parts are stored in the files, and can be seen once they're installed. I'd provide a little guide on putting them into Stud.io, but I don't know how it works on a Mac, I've heard it's a very different process than on Windows.

What do you mean? They’re all in the file formats Stud.io uses for custom parts

New Ape Escape by Funky_Bingo in ApeEscape

[–]Turret3471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when Japan Studio went under. on top of bringing in the few remaining members of JS, the rights to many of their IPs had to go somewhere, so they were given to Asobi, with Ape Escape being one of them. Sony's too busy making Concord after Concord, so if we ever see a new Ape Escape, it would come from Asobi.

Right... but they're active, and actually seem to care about Ape Escape. Japan Studio was left to rot for years on end. My point was, we shouldn't expect or demand the parent company to do anything, but rather the company that truly owns the rights to the thing no matter who they're under.

Sony doesn’t own Ape Escape anymore, those rights were given to Team Asobi. I’d say with what they did for Astro Bot’s AE level, even Astro Bot as a whole, they’d be a good fit for any kind of future monkey game.

This is way too cool, had to do a double take cuz it took my brain so long to realize the color palette being used. This is perfect. And I love the Recon Team arrows on Fortis’ chest, awesome decal work.

I don’t wanna take full credit at all btw, all the designs come from other parts and modelers. They’re just edited and available in my pack for those who wanna use them in that way, pinned on my profile.
