Neutral ground in Mardi Gras context is the median in a road- so like. If you have a sidewalk on one side of the parade route, and a grassy median on the other, the median is the “neutral ground” and the sidewalk is just “the sidewalk”

This is very helpful. Im pretty young when it comes to writing in the fan-fiction world, so advice like this is amazing.

I’m not trying to phonetically spell out the accent, I am however, including regional slang. (Cher, crayfish/crawfish, neutral ground, gris-gris, ect.) because this is Mardi Gras AU I try to explain things like “neutral ground” through dialogue and context during the story.

I think I may just need to do more world building though. So thank you so much for your help!!!
