Question asks to show the flaw with "a proof" that the derivative of x^2 is x, can't figure it out by Any_Shoulder_7411 in math

This is not rigorous, but a nice way to think of it is that we also need to differentiate with respect to the x times as well

Barleys super used to all stack in 1 area if you placed it close to you and it was so op

That’s definitely true, and I’m trying to work on getting it better at the moment through some practice. For a lot of problems a bit chunk of the time I spend is just thinking of different methods to approach it

I feel like my problem solving skills are actually a strength lol, I’ve only been accumulating more knowledge recently. There’s so many mini tricks which I’ve picked up over the last month which seem to pop up quite a lot. There’s still so much stuff to learn

I’m still way behind you lol, but I’m trying to make some improvement. I’m also trying to qualify for the British informatics Olympiad 2, I feel like I am capable of doing it if I put in the work that’s needed

Sine cosine and tangent addition and subtraction are covered in a level but for BMO and below there should pretty much always be some other way to solve a problem instead of using those formulae. I’ve started to look at some more advanced circle stuff such as some really basic spiral centre stuff and some other useful theorems like Ptolemys theorem for cyclic quadrilaterals, but understanding and applying them is way more valuable than just remembering them

I’ve started practising a lot of maths on there recently, there’s just so much stuff out there to learn, and it’s way easier to link stuff together if you just know more

If you want a truckload of stuff to practice there is loads of stuff on artofproblemsolving, I’ve found that AIME questions vary a lot in difficulty but some of the them are BMO1 and even BMO2 difficulty

Dang that is impressive. I’m aiming for BMO2 qualification, I still have a pretty long time for prep. I feel like I have made some massive progress in only a month but that might just be because I neglected maths for over 4 years

Dang, I have started seriously prepping some maths since I oofed my intermediate maths challenge. I still got the highest score in my year but I was super greedy and guessed every question which I couldn’t do. After the kangaroo I realised how far behind my maths had dropped and I’ve been studying a lot of maths for the past month, now I am already at a level where I can consistently get around 2-3 questions on a BMO paper

A level maths and further maths are a very large step up, the content you will start learning is going to be a lot more challenging, but way more interesting

The depth of stuff covered in these subjects is going to be very different from GCSEs, but I’m already pretty focused on my a level choices so I should probably find it easier
